Position Title : National Migration Health Physician (Medical Officer) – Health Assessment Programs (3 positions)
Position Grade : NOC

Context :
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and the direct supervision of the Head of Unit (HOU) and technical guidance by the Chief Migration Health Officer (CMHO), the successful candidate will be responsible for the carrying out the following duties and responsibilities in relation to the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Pretoria, South Africa.
Core Functions / Responsibilities :
- Ensure the efficient daily operations of the Migration Health Assessment Center (MHAC), in close coordination with the Chief Migration Health Officer (CMHO).
- Conduct the Pretoria MHAC’s migration health assessment process to fulfil the technical requirements of the resettlement countries in the areas of :
Medical examinations;
- Imaging;
- Laboratory testing;
- TB management;
- Treatment and referrals;
- Pre-departure procedures and medical movements;
- Documentation, certification and information transmission; and,
- Other technical areas as may be required.
- Ensure proper identification of refugees and migrants during the health assessment and record all relevant health information in standard forms; ensuring completeness and accuracy of the recorded information.
- Perform treatment for TB and sexually transmitted infections and provide support to the HIV and counselling activities. Support coordination of TB management to ensure effective TB treatment.
- Support coordination and provision of immunization and presumptive treatment programmes in full compliance with the technical guidelines and protocols of the resettlement countries. Assist CMHO in monitoring, supervising and educating of staff in the delivery of these programmes.
- Contribute to and maintain a system of quality improvement for each service area within the MHAC. Undertake quality control activities on a regular basis, including practice observation, desk audits and use of self-assessment tools. Use data analysis and web reporting system to monitor performance indicators. Ensure implementation of the global IOM Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); create and implement Pretoria MHAC specific SOPs for each service area. Ensure proper reporting and management of incidents according to the Guidance Note for Incident Management.
- Review and outline current mental health screening protocols in HAP operations MHD Pretoria ensuring that all are in line with the receiving countries’ recommendations and technical instructions.
- Support TB diagnosis, treatment and final clearance related to Migration Health Assessment.
- Support coordination of Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) for refugees and migrants in South Africa, Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana and Madagascar.
- Provide support, advice, and guidance for preparation of medical movements from Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia and Madagascar. Participate in escort duties.
- Coordinate with Panel Physicians in Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia and Madagascar to ensure that Technical Instructions (TIs) of the various programmes are adhered to.
- Perform quality control on all files received from Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia and Madagascar and validate them in MIMOSA.
- Organize systematic collection, processing and analyses of migration health data according to guidelines established by the CMHO. Ensure data quality. Provide periodic, as well as ad-hoc reporting to the CMHO for Migration Health activities.
- Ensure that all data related to health assessment programmes is appropriately entered to Migrant Management Operational System Application (MiMOSA) and other related databases.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience :
Education
University degree in Medicine from an accredited academic institution with at least four years of professional work experience.
Experience
- Minimum of four (4) years post-graduation with continuous clinical experience.
- Valid license to practice within the country is mandatory.
Languages
- Fluency in English (both oral and written) required.
- Working knowledge of local languages is an advantage.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of technical accounting experience, with a mix of public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and corporate accounting in a multinational organization.
- Deep IFRS expertise with the ability to research and as well as multiple local GAAP frameworks across regions (e.g., Europe, APAC, Africa, LATAM).
- Strong track record of developing and implementing global accounting policies in a decentralized or multi-entity business structure.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced accounting leader to establish and lead a newly created global function focused on accounting standardization, technical guidance, and policy governance. Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance Transformation, this role will be responsible for developing a global accounting policy framework, building a Center of Excellence for technical accounting matters, and providing expert advisory across IFRS, U.S. GAAP, and local GAAPs.
The ideal candidate is a technical expert and strategic thinker who can operate at both the policy and operational level, working cross-functionally with global finance, legal, tax, and audit teams. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement a comprehensive global accounting manual to standardize policies and procedures across all regions.
- Implement a governance model for accounting policy changes and compliance tracking.
- Partner with regional finance teams and controllers to roll out global accounting policies effectively.
- Lead a centralized function that serves as the company’s primary resource for technical accounting guidance.
- Develop best-practice accounting templates, tools, and guidance materials for global finance teams.
- Provide on-demand advisory for accounting treatments, structuring transactions, and addressing complex financial reporting issues.
- Conduct technical research and assess the impact of IFRS and local GAAP differences across key jurisdictions.
- Prepare and maintain technical accounting memos and whitepapers to support conclusions.
- Monitor updates from IASB, FASB, PCAOB, and local standards to provide training and thought leadership to regional finance teams and senior leaders.
- Establish an accounting governance framework to ensure policy adherence and consistency.
- Partner with external auditors, regulatory agencies, and industry bodies to maintain best-in-class accounting standards.
- Lead quarterly technical accounting updates for the global finance organization.
- Support M&A due diligence and integration, providing accounting expertise on deal structures and post-merger/divestment accounting considerations.
- Collaborate with finance transformation teams to enhance reporting efficiencies through technology and automation.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent certification required.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of technical accounting experience, with a mix of public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and corporate accounting in a multinational organization.
- Deep IFRS expertise with the ability to research and as well as multiple local GAAP frameworks across regions (e.g., Europe, APAC, Africa, LATAM).
- Strong track record of developing and implementing global accounting policies in a decentralized or multi-entity business structure.
- Experience working in highly regulated industries (e.g., financial services, healthcare, technology) is a plus.
- Proven ability to partner with executive leadership and influence decision-making.
