Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Project Manager to oversee client campaigns and internal initiatives within our marketing agency. The Project Manager will serve as the bridge between clients, creative teams, and leadership—ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Coordination
- Scope, plan, and schedule marketing projects (campaigns, websites, branding, digital ads, content production).
- Define deliverables, timelines, dependencies, and resource allocation.
- Maintain project documentation, status reports, and risk logs.
- Client Management
- Serve as primary client contact for day-to-day communications.
- Translate client goals into actionable project plans.
- Manage expectations, approvals, and feedback cycles.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Coordinate across design, content, digital, and strategy teams.
- Facilitate daily/weekly standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Ensure workloads are balanced and deadlines realistic.
- Execution & Delivery
- Track progress and ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
- Monitor budgets and project profitability.
- Identify and resolve blockers quickly.
- Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Prepare project status updates for clients and leadership.
- Measure campaign performance against KPIs.
- Provide insights for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in project management, ideally in a marketing, creative, or advertising agency.
- Strong understanding of marketing workflows (digital ads, content marketing, branding, design, web builds).
- Proficiency with project management tools (Asana, Jira, Trello, , etc.).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- PMP, Agile/Scrum, or similar certifications (preferred, not required).

Job Purpose
The Senior Manager: Digital Marketing Strategy oversees the development of digital marketing initiatives, enhancing capabilities and progressing maturity at Nedbank. They contribute to the effective use of data and marketing technology (MarTech). Leading a team of digital marketing managers and collaborating closely with marketing pods and agile squads, this individual crafts data-driven, performance-focused strategies that align with business objectives to achieve meaningful results. Utilising Nedbank's full MarTech suite, including Adobe Experience Cloud and emerging AI technologies, they enable teams to innovate, personalise client experiences, and boost commercial growth. The role is crucial in converting complex data and technology into effective strategies, ensuring digital marketing efforts are innovative, client-focused, and aligned with Nedbank's vision for future-ready marketing.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Digital Marketing Leadership (50%)
- Lead the development of integrated, measurable, client-centric digital marketing strategies.
- Drive capability building and maturity in digital marketing across teams.
- Partner with pods and agile squads to design, test, and optimise performance-driven campaigns.
- Use insights and analytics to ensure strategies are aligned with business growth and ROI.
MarTech-driven Campaign Enablement (30%)
- Partner with Group Technology and other functions to creatively leverage Adobe Experience Cloud (AEM, Journey Optimiser, Analytics, Target, Firefly, Creative Cloud) and other MarTech tools (e.g. GA4, Apps Flyer).
- Act as a catalyst for MarTech-enabled creativity, guiding marketers across the group in the strategic use of data and technology to enhance campaign impact.
- Ensure MarTech initiatives are tightly integrated with campaign objectives and deliver clear, measurable value.
- Provide strategic input into MarTech enablement roadmaps, focusing on campaign outcomes rather than simply platform adoption.
AI and Advanced Technology Integration (20%)
- Identify and champion opportunities to apply AI and advanced technologies in marketing activity for greater personalisation and efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate and implement AI tools that enhance campaign creativity and effectiveness.
- Contribute to the responsible governance of AI and data-driven marketing, ensuring its ethical and impactful use.
- Build awareness and capability across marketing teams on the creative potential and limitations of AI in marketing.
Education & Qualifications
Postgraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field (master's degree is advantageous). Professional certification in Digital Marketing and relevant MarTech tools is advantageous.
Experience
- 7–10 years in senior digital marketing roles, with proven leadership experience.
- Demonstrated ability to drive strategy, build capability, and uplift digital maturity.
- Demonstrated expertise in creatively applying MarTech platforms (preferably Adobe Experience Cloud) to drive marketing success.
- Experience working cross-functionally with technology and data teams.
- Interest and aptitude in AI-driven marketing innovation.
- Agency experience is advantageous.
Technical Skills
- Optimising digital marketing channels (web, social, mobile, direct) – Advanced.
- Leveraging digital advertising platforms (including programmatic display, paid search and performance media) – Advanced.
- Agile ways of working and project management – Progressive.
- Process improvement and journey orchestration – Progressive.
