As a Civil Engineering Technologist, you will be responsible for designing and overseeing the construction of various civil engineering projects, including roads, sewer systems, and stormwater drainage.

Responsibilities and Skills:

• Ensure all designs are checked and approved by the relevant manager prior to forwarding to the relevant client and contractor
• Performing due diligence on the impact and feasibility of new construction sites.
• The preparation of feasibility reports
• Attending meetings with clients and stakeholders as and when required
• Assist with the implementation of medium to large sized projects within technical standards, quality, budgets, and time frames.
• Ensure effectiveness, quality, and profitability of completed projects including project follow-up, to monitor project deliverables and client satisfaction levels
• Site supervision as and when required
• Contribute to the preparation of project reports and proficiency in technical report writing
• A working understanding of project finances and project budgets for medium to large scale projects
• Surveying new construction sites and assessing existing structures for upgrades
• Sound Project Management Skills - Liaise, co-operate, and provide required information to clients and stakeholders at various stages
• Preparation of estimates of construction costs (BOQs)
• Preparation of specifications and preambles for construction works (Colto / Coto / SANS / GCC etc.)

Requirements:

• Completed minimum B.Eng or BTech.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
• No less than 10 years experience in a similar position within a Consulting Engineering firm (pref)
• Proficient in design packages
• AutoCAD Civil 3D experience essential
• Technical knowledge of drawing and design processes
• Project Management experience is essential

1. Analysis, Design and Procurement:
   - Gather all relevant site and problem statement information to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the project at hand.
   - Liaise with other disciplines and business units (Mechanical, Electrical, Operations).
   - Analyse and design relevant and cost-effective solutions.
   - Prepare design and procurement information (design drawings, BOQ's, mark-ups, etc.).
   - Manage procurement process (RFQ, RFP, and Tenders).
   - Make recommendations.
   - Acquire client approval through works submissions.
   - Manage or oversee Civil Technologists, drafter, clerk of works, and other team members in executing required works.
2. Project Management:
   - Project Execution and Management.
   - Project Close-Out and As-Build.
3. Management of Civil Discipline:
   - Manage Civil Discipline as Civil Engineering Technical Lead.
   - Devise/oversee yearly budgets on all relevant civil infrastructure (Grain, Commercial, Housing, and Head Office) based on inspections, requests, long-term plans, and all related information.
   - Manage client relations.
   - Devise short and long-term plans on maintenance and capital expenditure on all relevant civil infrastructure.
   - Liaise and engage with other disciplines and grow the maturity of the Engineering and Property Assets (EPA) Unit.
   - Lead projects in terms of Risk & Compliance priorities, in addition to asset conditions.
   - Improvement of Unit procedures, processes, and systems.
