A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse (Medical Ward) based at Life Groenkloof Hospital , reporting to the Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic patient care and ensuring collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, aligned with Company & Hospital strategic objectives.
Critical OutputsEnsure effective quality management systems by:
- Attending and participating in Q programs and ensuring induction training is carried out
- Completing monthly Q evaluator cards and reporting to the shift leader or unit manager
- Participating in review and ward meetings to ensure conformance to QMS audit standards
- Complying with infection control standards and PPE procedures
- Adhering to safety measures
Ensure optimum operational efficiencies by:
- Maintaining correct stock administration
- Reporting patient movements on discharge or transfer accurately
- Proper usage and maintenance of equipment
- Minimizing and justifying personal absenteeism
- Working flexible hours to reduce agency costs and assist other departments
Ensure effective quality patient care by:
- Performing and completing assigned tasks to maximize patient care
- Maintaining patient hygiene, comfort, and safety as per care plans
- Using correct techniques and PPE to promote wound and fracture healing
- Monitoring and recording fluid intake
- Managing and preparing for surgical and diagnostic procedures
Manage relationships with customers by:
- Building and maintaining healthy relationships with internal and external customers
- Supporting new staff with orientation programs
- Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing
- Experience in Medical Ward nursing
- Current registration with the relevant professional body
- Understanding of the private healthcare industry (advantageous)
- Computer proficiency
- Driver’s license and ability to travel

Job requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse or Equivalent NQF 7 qualification
- Have a matric qualification
- Relevant experience in Medical Unit
- Compulsory BLS
- Advanced Computer Literacy
- Capacity to implement and maintain standards of health practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation
