JOB PURPOSE
The Product Manager (PM) will be responsible for overseeing the entire product life cycle of the Legacy Portable Gas detection and Environmental Monitoring Systems , from concept to market release and beyond. This role requires a seasoned professional with a proven track record in product management, a deep understanding of the mining industry and a passion for advancing safety technologies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in product management, preferably in the development of safety or mining-related technologies.
  • Has at least 10 years experience in the mining industry.
  • Deep understanding of gas detection instrumentation, Systems and Environmental Monitoring Systems or related safety technologies.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget. (Proof to be presented)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Strategy and Vision
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of market trends, customer needs, and competitor offerings to define a clear product vision.
  • Formulate a robust product and market strategy aligned with Schauenburg Systems' overall business objectives.
  • Derive product requirements from market requirements, product strategy and vision.
Product Development
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production and quality assurance to drive the development of the OSS (Occupational safety solutions) systems and products.
  • Coordinate and conduct R&D to ensure the product aligns with cutting-edge technologies and industry standards.
  • User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX)
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to inform development decisions.
  • Responsible for coordinating lab scale testing, on site testing and site trials.
Project Management
  • Create and maintain detailed project plans, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Prioritise tasks, manage resources effectively, and navigate potential roadblocks to keep the project on track.
  • Responsible for the document configuration of designs, requirements, certifications, approvals, training material, manuals, bill of materials, test and trial results etc.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Interface with key stakeholders, including customers, internal teams and external partners to gather feedback and ensure alignment with market needs.
  • Communicate project updates, timelines, and milestones to various stakeholders, fostering transparency and collaboration.
Quality Assurance
  • Implement rigorous testing protocols to ensure that the products and System meets the highest standards of quality and reliability.
  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to identify and address any product deficiencies promptly.
Market Launch
  • Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy, including product positioning, pricing, and promotional activities.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to create compelling product messaging and collateral.
  • Coordinate and support Proof of Concepts (PoC) activities.
Post-Launch Management
  • Monitor product performance in the market and gather user feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address any issues, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Responsibilities and Requirements

· Develop periodically the operational objectives and key performance indicators for asset utilisation and capacity maximization for each equipment and/or process within the department.Applies scientific and engineering knowledge in support of Production, Maintenance and Equipment reliability with emphasis on process reliability and predictability.

· Ensure proper maintenance philosophy and strategies are developed and rolled out to relevant plants.

· Lead, coach, and mentor team members.

· Not afraid of heights or confined spaces.

· Lead Capital projects; and organize and negotiate the allocation of resources.

· Apply agile methodology in the design of solutions to support the AMSA business transformation.

· Oversee all reports and documentation related to system support and projects in the environment.

· Conduct system feasibility studies and testing.

· Technically support AMSA plants and projects as and when required.

Experience and Requirements:

  • 5-8 years’ experience in Process or Reliability Engineering
  • 5 years’ experience working in the Steel Industry will be an advantage
  • Exposure to utility generation/distribution/treatment (steam, compressed air, power, water, electricity) will be advantageous
  • Exposure to integrated utility distribution systems will be advantageous
  • Excellent understanding and application of project management principles
  • Experience in preventative maintenance processes, condition monitoring, Root-Cause Analysis, risk management, etc.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously

  • Applicable BEng in Mechanical/Electrical degree NQF 7

We have an opening in our Technical Engineering Department located in Kempton Park. We invite suitably qualified candidates who meet the requirements for this role to apply. Overview and Key Responsibilities The Technician will be responsible for performing installation and maintenance activities effectively, efficiently, and safely. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Executing planned and unplanned maintenance activities as directed. Assisting with the execution of identified project activities as instructed. Reporting on maintenance, project, and safety activities performed. Supporting the implementation of required safety and departmental systems. Ensuring compliance with necessary safety systems and protocols. Essential Requirements Matric certificate with Maths and Science. Completed NTC 2 - 4 qualification or equivalent. Registered SAQCC Practitioner. Red Seal Trade Tested Artisan (preferably a Fitter). 3 to 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in MS Office Suite and computer literate. Valid unendorsed Code B driver’s license. Willingness to work overtime as needed. Essential Requirements
  1. Matric certificate with Maths and Science.
  2. Completed NTC 2 - 4 qualification or equivalent.

  5. 3 to 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
