Job PurposeThis post is part of the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP), aimed at developing academic talent in South Africa's higher education system. The programme supports newly recruited academics in developing teaching and research skills, with a focus on equity targets, favoring black and/or women South African citizens. Applicants must:
- Show interest in becoming an academic
- Be 40 years or younger
- Have a 70% pass mark for Master's degree
- Show evidence of eligibility for doctoral or post-doctoral studies
- Be willing to commit to a 6-year placement
The role involves lecturing in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Multimedia Applications within the Information Technology department.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience- Be 40 years or younger
- Registered or willing to register for a Doctoral degree
- At least 1 year experience with software tools like Adobe Photoshop, Maya, 3Ds Max, Blender, or programming languages like Unity or Unreal Engine
- Participate in all components of the nGAP development programme during the first six years
- Teach practical and theoretical subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels: Digital Media, Programming, Game Design, Animation, and Interactive Media
- Perform academic and administrative duties
- Assess students
- Engage in research activities
- Contribute to Quality Assurance activities
- Participate in work-integrated learning and student visitations
- Develop industry and academic linkages
- Assist with marketing and recruitment
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of Department
Digital Media expertise, organizational skills, presentation skills, adaptability, interpersonal skills, continuous learning, learner focus, communication and coaching, administrative skills, proficiency in English.
