Supervisory Responsibilities: The Fundraising Manager supervises the Donor Development Administrator and Superbook Follow-up Coordinator

Job Description:

The Fundraising Manager plays a crucial role within CBNSA, ensuring that all activities within the organisation are strategically aligned with fundraising objectives. This role is responsible for implementing and executing fundraising initiatives across departments while ensuring that every program and activity contributes to the overall financial sustainability of CBN Southern Africa.
This position requires hands-on implementation of fundraising strategies, actively working towards achieving financial targets. By developing practical fundraising frameworks, the Fundraising Manager ensures that CBNSA meets its revenue goals, secures sustainable funding sources, and maximises financial support for impactful programs.
The role demands a proactive approach to fundraising, including individual donor engagement, donor acquisition and development, corporate partnerships, and grant acquisition. The Fundraising Manager is also responsible for monitoring fundraising performance and ensuring that targets are met or exceeded.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising and Donor Development Implementation for CBNSA and the Family of Ministries:

  • Develop and execute fundraising strategies that integrate individual giving, partnerships, special events, and grant funding.
  •  Ensure that every department and program within the organization actively contributes to fundraising efforts.
  •  Oversee the broadcasting portfolio and generate strategies to bring in revenue through broadcasting (TV, Radio and Internet Streaming)
  • Work with the marketing and communications team to create compelling fundraising campaigns and appeals.
  •  Identify new opportunities for fundraising and diversify revenue streams to reduce reliance on single sources of funding.
  • Set and achieve annual fundraising targets, tracking progress and reporting regularly to senior leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with program managers to align fundraising efforts with program objectives and maximize funding potential.
  • Grant Acquisition and Management:
  • Identify, apply for, and secure grant funding from government agencies, foundations, and other sources.
  • Develop and submit high-quality grant proposals in collaboration with the fundraising team.
  • Build and maintain relationships with funders, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
  • Oversee the management of grants, ensuring timely reporting and proper allocation of funds.

Team Leadership and Implementation:

  •  Lead by example in implementing fundraising strategies and meeting financial targets.
  •  Establish clear performance metrics and expectations related to fundraising success.
  •  Provide direct supervision and support to the Donor Development Administrator.
  •  Ensure collaboration with other department heads to maintain fundraising as a core function of all programs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building:
  • Actively engage with donors, sponsors, corporate partners, and other key stakeholders to cultivate strong relationships for continuous partnership and donor acquisition and retention.
  • Represent CBNSA at networking events, donor meetings, and conferences to promote fundraising initiatives.
  •  Work closely with community members to ensure fundraising aligns with the needs of beneficiaries.
  • Aligned Existing Programs with Fundraising Objectives:
  • Collaborate with program managers to develop cohesive program activities that are structured to attract funding and support.
  • Conduct research to identify funding gaps and suggest new opportunities for program funding and expansion.
  •  Budget Creation and Financial Management:
  •  Develop and oversee the annual fundraising budget in collaboration with the finance team and respective program manager.
  •  Monitor fundraising expenses and ensure adherence to financial goals.
  •  Provide financial reports and updates on fundraising performance to senior leadership.
  •  Adjust fundraising strategies as needed to maintain financial sustainability.

Fundraising Performance Tracking and Reporting:

  •  Track and report on fundraising targets, providing regular updates to the Director.
  •  Analyse the effectiveness of different fundraising initiatives and optimize approaches accordingly.
  • Work with finance, marketing, and program teams to ensure all fundraising activities are well-coordinated and impactful.
  • Key Responsibilities in Cultivating Team Ethos and Culture:
  • Actively participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and collaborative projects to foster a sense of camaraderie and unity among team members.
  •  Demonstrate a commitment to our Christian ethos, team values, open communication, respect, and inclusivity in all interactions with colleagues, volunteers, donors, and external partners.
  •  Support team-building activities, recognition programs, and initiatives aimed at celebrating achievements, promoting collaboration, and strengthening team morale.

  • Resident in Cape Town with own transport
  • 3-5 years in a fundraising management position

    The Wikimedia Foundation seeks a detail-oriented and self-starting Digital Fundraising Specialist to join our Online Fundraising team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Fundraising Growth. In this role, you will support the production and administration of dozens of international fundraising initiatives, particularly fundraising banner campaigns on Wikipedia.org, which are responsible for a significant portion of the Wikimedia Foundation’s annual revenue.

    This role is heavily web content production focused. The Digital Fundraising Specialist will work within banner code (mostly HTML and CSS; some basic JS) that is written by our team of designers and developers. You will implement translations in banners and coordinate with linguist review for international campaigns. You will provide production support to our team of content writers and linguists; and ensure that key campaigns and other web projects are tracked in our project management systems and executed with a high degree of quality.

    In a typical day, you will:

    • Prepare banners and other fundraising content for testing. This involves content production; moving bits of code and blocks of copy from documents to spreadsheets and into CentralNotice, our fundraising banner ads extension.
    • Reference and contribute to an Asana board that tracks all our live fundraising campaigns; you’ll be particularly focused on the messages we show on Wikipedia.org, as well as the fundraising we do on social media and in the Wikipedia App.
    • Contribute rigorous QA and production support through all the steps of banner production: design, translation, quality assurance and testing.

    • Preferably a project management certification.
    • At least 5 years' experience in a fundraising environment.
    • At least 3 years of project management experience.
    • Preferably experience in fundraising and development initiatives.

    Competencies and Behavioural Attributes:

    • Knowledge and understanding of project management principles.
    • Knowledge and understanding of managing campaigns.
    • Ability to operate at a senior level.
    • Ability to maintain effective relationships with a wide constituent group of stakeholders internally and externally to the university.
    • Communication and writing skills.
    • Planning and organisational skills.
    • Analytical skills and detail oriented.
    • Strong management reporting and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently towards the accomplishment of agreed upon goals for the position.
