- A strong academic record, with extensive experience in facilitating learning and teaching at both undergraduate andpostgraduate levels, preferably in one of the following subject areas: Information Technology (IT) Education,
Computer Assisted Technology (CAT) Education, Robotics and Coding Theory - A strong track record of quality academic research with at least 15 DHET accredited publications related to the fieldof IT Education and/or CAT Education
- A record of successful postgraduate supervision of Masters and PhD students
- Evidence of expertise, national standing, and definite international presence in his/her discipline.
- The integration of community engagement with learning and teaching and/or research
- Leadership experience at both departmental and faculty levels
- Undergraduate computer science/information systems at NQF level 6

- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the presentation of relevant subjects in the undergraduate teaching programme.
- Sound practical experience to lead students in work-integrated learning.
- Show evidence of independence and initiative in research, applied, or creative works.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Computer literacy in MS Office, e-mail and the internet.
- Knowledge of the appropriate assessment theory and practice to enhance student performance.
- Research outputs.
- A proven commitment to teaching and learning, including a willingness to become involved in students’ educational environment.
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- Effective time management skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Good interpersonal relations and a client-service orientation.
- Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various functionally multilingual environments of the NWU.
- The ability to function well individually and as part of a team/subject group.
- Good analytical abilities and innovative thinking, as well as the ability to be self-driven.
- Ability to solve problems independently.
- High level of professional and ethical conduct.
REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
