Purpose Statement- To minimise or prevent financial loss due to digital forensics for Capitec Bank and its clients through:
- Providing an on-demand digital forensic investigative service through the application of effective data analytics, and continuously improve team investigation capabilities through data analysis and improvement of technical controls within client data channels.
- Applying data analytics to highlight trends and patterns
- Provide analytical insights to enhance fraud prevention tactics.
Minimum:
- 5 years working in Digital Forensics OR information security field:
- 3 years Digital Forensic Experience as an Analyst or Investigator
- 3 years as a Cyber Incident response analyst.
Ideal:
- 5+ years working in a Digital / information security field:
- 3+ years Digital Forensic Experience as an Analyst or Investigator
- 3+ years as a Cyber Incident response analyst.
- Working in the Capitec IT environment
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Forensics or Information Technology
- Bachelor's Degree in Forensics or Information Technology
Minimum:
- Must have a good understanding of:
- Digital security and forensic processes
- Threat Analysis
- Vulnerability Assessment / Scanning
- Security Monitoring
- Compliance and audit
- Incident response
- Cyber/Digital security technologies (e.g. Firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus, patch management)
- Fundamental cyber/digital security concepts (e.g. policy, encryption, access controls, audit trails, risk management)
- MS Office suite
- Computer Forensics
- Windows, Linux and MAC OS
Ideal:
- Knowledge of Capitec systems and environment
- Analytical Skills
- Attention to Detail
- Communications Skills
- Computer Literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook)
- Problem solving skills
- Clear criminal and credit record

Purpose of this role:
- Facilitate the compiling of comprehensive investigation strategies for all assignments.
- Secure and review the quality of evidence.
- Ensure corrective actions and/or additional investigation activities where inaccuracies, lack of sufficient evidence and other weaknesses are identified.
- Review the contents and use of investigation files throughout the investigation process
- Use investigation conclusion reports as well as the investigation files to compile a comprehensive draft investigation report as per the approved standards
- Generate monthly status and or progress reports as per requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Is expected to stay abreast of current news, applicable statutes and changes and to update management with relevant information.
- Controls specific portions of job.
- Identify higher level of tasks as part of a team/group with guidance.
- Assist the Manager where necessary as well as the rest of the team with administration.
- Liaise with relevant departments to obtain correct information on specific assignments.
- Performs other related duties of a similar nature or level.
- Be able to handle more than one assignment at a time.
Requirements:
Qualifications/Recognition of Prior Learning equivalent:
- A post-graduate (BCom/LLB) degree in forensic
- CFE
Work Experience:
- Investigator experience
- 5+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
