EDUCATION : Matric / N3 N5 / Trade tested Artisan Mechanical Millwright Fitter and Turner with knowledge in instrumentation and electronics.
EXPERIENCE : 3 years of experience with pumps, particularly in rotating equipment, and familiarity with KSB products.
Skilled in installation, site repairs, fault finding, and system knowledge. Experience with vibration analysis and SES exposure will be advantageous.
REQUIREMENTS : Computer literate, including Microsoft Office 365.
Good all-round engineering knowledge, preferably gained in a pumping environment.
Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
Willing to travel.
Key Accountabilities
- Precision fitting with reference to component assembly, especially bearings (white metal sleeve type, roller, and ball bearings) and tilting pad arrangements.
- Precision measuring ability using micrometers, verniers, depth gauges, telescopic gauges, and DTIs.
- Sound engineering practices regarding fitting of tolerance components such as sleeves, impellers, couplings, etc. (Knowledge of fits and tolerances).
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
- Experience with equipment installations and mechanical fitting practices.
- Shaft and coupling alignment, both multiple dial and laser methods.
- General experience with rotating equipment such as blowers, compressors, gear reducers, motor drives, and multi-stage pumps.
- Exposure to pump system fault finding, start-up, and commissioning practices.
- Compliance with all KSB Pumps and Valves (Pty) Ltd policies and procedures.
- Assist fellow employees with daily functions as required.
Carry out all other reasonable tasks delegated from time to time.

As an international field service engineer you are part of a team that is responsible for Field Service work (commissioning operation testing integration optimization maintenance and repair) worldwide.
This includes on call technical phone support and field response to equipment and customer issues.
You will provide detailed field reports that are useful for the whole organization after every installation or technical intervention and give support to Sales and Project Management.
You will also provide training of customer maintenance and service personnel on site as well as TSS Service Engineers.
Qualifications : Candidate Profile
You are flexible willing to travel abroad and you meet the following requirements :
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering
- Working knowledge of basic electrical power circuits and PLC circuits would be an advantage
- Knowledge of computer hardware and configurations is considered a plus
- Basic understanding of programming preferably C C Java or Python are considered to be a plus
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers internal and external associates and management.
- Excellent communication skills in English and / or other languages are e considered to be a plus
- A valid drivers license with a good driving record
- Willing to travel abroad for at least 80% of the time based on a flexible schedule. This means it could be also during weekends or in holiday seasons.

This is a key role in providing essential service plans to our customers and their sites, reacting to various technical faults and planned maintenance of our products.
Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be part of a National team of Field Service Engineers providing prompt and effective service to resolve customer issues as they arise.
In this role, you will identify faults, repair, test, and modify actuators in the field, carry out mechanical and electrical installations of actuators, and perform retrofit adaptation of components, pedestals, and drive shafts. The FSE is responsible for all technical concerns from the Rapid Hub he/she owns including all Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) escalations. The role also contains a training element as we engage with dealer technicians to provide on-the-job training and guidance.
Responsibilities
- Lead & support dealer technicians to diagnose and resolve high ageing technical concerns which cannot be addressed through the TAC.
- Provide technical support to TAC engineer / Zone Manager / CRC agent on litigation.
- Summarize the cause of all concerns and submit a One-Pager within the agreed timelines after the dealer visit to flow information through to the relevant PVT engineering teams.
- Lead Technical Audits, Skill Inventory analysis and PDI audits. On-the-job training to technicians for TSB, FSA, SSM, SST usage and diagnostic concerns.
- Provide support and advice to Dealers with respect to, but not limited to, Ford technician training, Skill Mix, Technician competence, Special Service Tools and equipment requirements.
- Support central SEO / PCE / PD / PVT teams on technical concern or fix validations, TSB corrections, workshop manual corrections and training contents corrections.
- Support on Vehicle Off Road (VOR) / Rapid Hub / CRC initiatives on daily review of open/ageing concerns along with Cross-Functional Teams and address diagnostic related ageing concerns by guiding dealer technicians.
- Support Fix It Right First Time by assisting dealers with a good technical diagnosis and workshop practice to provide robust fixes to customers.
- Attend relevant PCE / PVT meetings for information sharing and emerging concern update.
- Support / conduct regular Service Manager and Service Foreman meetings.
- Vehicle Off Road (VOR) Days Measured.
- Dealer Satisfaction Index.
- Quality of Information Reported to PVT/ CRC / TAC.

Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES (KSA)

The Field Service Engineer will assume the responsibility for the execution of planned and unplanned After- Sales/Service activities in order to sustain and strengthen the ongoing relationship between customers. The Field Service Engineer typically executes the tasks of installation and commissioning of equipment, planned and unplanned maintenance and repairs, servicing of equipment as per maintenance schedules, rebuilding of equipment and upgrades & modernization of equipment. These activities are performed mostly on the customer’s site but based on the complexity and operational requirements can also be done in-house in workshops. The position also entails the identification of customer needs, service opportunity leads and communication thereof to the Service Sales and Service Branch teams, supervisory tasks and customer training. S/he will be the face and first contact of the company to and with the customer. S/he will adhere to high ethical standards and comply with all regulations/applicable laws and corporate governance.
