Reporting to the Emerging & LATAM Marketing Leader, the South Africa Marketing Manager is responsible for scaling the Cohesity brand, driving pipeline in both net new and existing accounts (aligned to our sales plays) and ensuring operational excellence, which includes end-to-end lead management direct and through the channel.
The Marketing Manager will align the company and regional business goals and deliver a marketing plan for this region that lands our vision of AI-Powered Data Security in our strategic accounts, helps our enterprise customers modernize their backup infrastructure to meet today’s cyber challenges and drives net new logos direct and through our distributor, reseller and alliances communities.
The role requires a knowledge of the data management industry and market trends - AI, Cyber Security, Compliance and Governance. It also requires experience of the full marketing mix, from ABM to events (physical and virtual), digital, social, omni channel campaigns and Channel/Alliances Marketing. It requires experience working with C level (CISOs/CIOs/CTOs/CEOs) and technical personas. The role also requires collaboration with our corporate team to build a programmatic calendar of webinars for customers/prospects and to leverage our sales motions to create campaigns for our channel partners across the whole of the Emerging region.
The role demands a strong commercially focused individual, with experience of working for a sales-focused corporation in the tech sector. The person will be a strong communicator, have a strong capability to build trust & intimacy with sales and channel, be an ambassador and driver of Cohesity brand and implement key initiatives/sales plays in a programmatic manner. The successful candidate will be an experienced marketing professional with a proven track record of measurement and ROI.
The ability to influence multiple regional stakeholders and to negotiate effectively within a global matrixed organization to make a difference are critical to the success of this role, as is the ability to collaborate well with corporate and international marketing functions to ensure the best outcome for the sub-region.
HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR TIME HERE:
- Serve as a trusted advisor and key member of the South Africa Management Team as well as the country managers of our growth markets (Qatar, Kuwait, Poland, Israel)
- Develop and execute a marketing strategy and plan to drive awareness, engagement, and demand across Enterprise, Public Sector, Commercial, and Strategic accounts . This includes customer retention, expansion, and acquisition strategies.
- Optimize budget allocation across direct and channel marketing activities to maximize pipeline impact and ROI .
- Design and implement pipeline generation and acceleration programs , collaborating closely with sales and channel teams to ensure alignment with revenue goals.
- Plan, manage, and execute high-impact physical & virtual events , ensuring a cohesive pre-event, at-event, and post-event nurture strategy to increase engagement and response rates.
- Develop and implement a target account strategy to support account-based selling (ABM) , incorporating EBCs (Executive Briefing Centers) and micro-briefings.
- Communicate and align in-country xfunctional teams (e.g. sales, technical sales, channel,renewals) on new and planned marketing activities, ensuring effective execution of global and regional programs.
- Strengthen channel and partner marketing efforts , working alongside Partner Sales Managers to drive demand with platinum/gold partners, distributors, and alliances , with a focus on acquiring new logos .
- Forecast, measure, and report on marketing program effectiveness, making data-driven adjustments where needed.
- Leverage Alliances partners (e.g. HPE, Cisco, Microsoft, AWS, Google) to generate new leads and accelerate pipeline growth through joint initiatives.
- Evaluate, onboard, and manage local vendors to execute demand-generation programs effectively.

The successful candidate will be a marketing professional with experience working within the IT industry. He/She/They will be results-driven and have a proven track record of ROI. He/She/They will have experience executing online/digital campaigns as well as experience working with the channel. The ability to influence multiple (sub-) regional stakeholders and to negotiate effectively within a matrix organization is critical to the success of this role. The candidate will be accountable for the annual planning and quarterly reviews within his/her/their sub-region, including budget and pipeline management as well as tracking ROI (contribution to pipeline and bookings). He/She/They will communicate regularly on progress against plan to key stakeholders.
- Minimum 5-7 years’ marketing experience
- Operational excellence - experience managing B2B direct and channel marketing and reporting metrics (funnel conversion, pipeline, ROI, % contribution to the business, etc.)
- Experience of account-based marketing implementation
- Proven track record in delivering in a high-pressured sales focused environment
- Proven track record in driving strong partner relationship and lead generation programs
