Santam’s Merit Claims department has positions available for a Motor Merit Field Investigator based in Hill On Empire, 16 Empire Rd, Parktown, Johannesburg.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Merit Field Investigator will ensure that all flagged and segmented claims are comprehensively investigated to achieve conclusive results. The successful incumbent will maintain credibility by ensuring that all investigations are conducted in accordance with the Santam Claims Policy and Philosophy and Standard Operating Procedures and appropriate forensic investigation practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Handling of disputes that could arise between Motor merit field and intermediaries and/or claimants.
  2. Investigate and collate information on flagged claims.
  3. Conduct a field investigation on the claim.
  4. Review the claims documents and photos to validate the claim.
  5. Handle claim queries within the agreed service levels.
  6. Handle customers effectively and fairly in line with TCF.
  7. Finalisation of completed investigations within the agreed turnaround times.
  8. Regular liaison with management and staff at all levels of the company regarding high risk claims escalated/flagged.
  9. Consultation with clients, Third parties, Business and Business Partners on a continuous basis regarding fraud and irregularities.
  10. Regular liaison with counterparts at other insurers.
  11. Regular liaison with Santam Forensic Services.
  12. Maintaining relationships with external resources as part collaboration, source of information and investigation purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  1. Matric/Grade 12
  2. Tertiary National Diploma or University Degree would be advantageous
  3. Short Term Motor Insurance experience 3 years or more
  4. Background in investigative work within the South African Police Services would be beneficial.
  5. 2-3 years’ claims merit theft investigation experience
  6. Understanding of how to handle Motor Theft Claims
  7. Previous experience in the investigation of motor theft claims
  8. Strong analytical abilities and evaluate trends objectively

Our client is seeking a dedicated Law Enforcement Liaison Officer to strengthen efforts in recovering stolen and hijacked vehicles. The successful candidate will play a key role in meeting recovery targets by building and maintaining strong relationships with law enforcement agencies and private security partners, ensuring effective collaboration and operational success. Operational Activities Recovery of stolen or hijacked vehicles. Enhance recovery efficiency through understanding and implementing Tracker-established vehicle recovery processes. Acting as a specialized point of contact between the emergency control departments and external partners (such as law enforcement and PSI). Coordinate and attend to all activations and verifications dispatched by Companys National Emergency Control Centre. During crime or safety verification activations, request the assistance of Law Enforcement Agencies and PSIs to stop the activated vehicle. Adhere to Crime Scene management protocols at all times. Demonstrate a comprehensive working understanding of the complete stolen vehicle recovery ecosystem and legal framework. Demonstrate a comprehensive working understanding of SAPS protocols related to motor vehicle-related crime. Demonstrate a comprehensive working understanding of the Criminal Procedure Act. Testify in a criminal court when required. Demonstrate a comprehensive working of vehicle-related crime dynamics and drivers. Ensure vehicle safeguarding and repatriation protocols are adhered to at all times. Demonstrate a comprehensive working understanding and knowledge of missing person protocols (i.e., SAP55). Produce a recovery statement in line with Law Enforcement SOPs, and any and all recovery-related activities to assist the chain of evidence). Demonstrate a comprehensive working understanding of companys post-recovery and non-recovery processes. Customer Experience and Service Delivery Demonstrate a high level of professionalism at all times. Ensure full adherence to companys customer engagement protocols in line with the company values. Assist company customers with the vehicle repatriation at SAPS safeguarding units, if required. Provide guidance to customer and partners in terms of the stolen vehicle and recovery processes. Ensure timely escalation of customer queries and concerns to senior management. Demonstrate an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all relevant stakeholders. Demonstrate an ability to anticipate customer needs through the gathering of customer complaints and pain points. Continuously provide company internal teams with periodic feedback of relevant concerns. Projects and Continuous Improvement Continuously analyse stolen vehicle tactics and modus operandi within the industry. Record insights and findings through established processes and systems. Implement improvements designed to deliver enhanced recovery rates or customer experience outcomes. Design, develop and implement projects / initiatives to enhance the functioning of the department. Participate in specialized operational plans with external partners that will enhance the recovery rate. Attend appropriate training and development as determined through the IDP. Attend regular training and development courses as per departmental objectives. Participate and provide training for external partners as determined by a formal needs-analysis. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:


The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:



  • Develop and facilitate the implementation of the law enforcement strategy and annual operational plan for the Division that supports strategic direction of the C-BRTA.

  • Oversee the Road Transport Inspectorate operations, including business and staff performance.

  • Oversee execution of law enforcement interventions on all cross border corridors.

  • Provide leadership on the Profiling capability and development of business intelligence in law enforcement.

  • Oversee the management of functional skills development and external activities coordination.

  • Manage the 8 regional offices of the C-BRTA throughout RSA.

  • Provide advise to the CEO, the regulatory committee and the Board on matters related to Road Transport Inspectorate.

  • Facilitate compliance with corporate governance principles, and ensure the development and implementation of

  • Provide regional leadership on regional integrated law enforcement initiatives.

  • Ensure that the Divisional plan correlates with the approved operating budget and ensure successful execution thereof; and

  • Prudently manage the organisation’s resources within budget guidelines and relevant legislation.


COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • A Post-graduate qualification at NQF level 9 will be an added advantage.


Experience:



  • 10 years experience in road transport law enforcement or related field.

  • 5 years experience at Senior Management level in law enforcement, stakeholder management and road transport environment.

  • Extensive, up to date knowledge of Traffic management, C-BRT Act, applicable transport legislation in the SADC region.
