Key Responsibilities
• Engineer
- Provide technical services as it relates to routine and moderately complex maintenance and/or repair of control systems and their components
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues as they relate to control systems and their components
- Communicate with engineers at customer sites on technical questions and specifications.
- Provide after-hours support in person and/or over the phone.

- Complete necessary service, time tracking, and expense documentation.

- Identify and assist with repair and manufacturing training needs.
- Ensure that all completed work meets the company’s Standards and complies with company’s ISO Quality System.

Qualifications and Experience
- Engineering related qualification – Diploma or an equivalent combination of relevant education
- Instrumentation / Electrical / Auto Electrical Trade Test
- 5 years engineering experience as instrumentation technician, field service and/or similar industrial environment with focus on automation and advanced instrumentation systems.
- Mining, metals, and/or automation industry experience preferred.
- Experience on opencast drills or shovel will be highly advantageous
- 3 years relevant management experience
- Project management experience
- Advanced experience in communication protocol (Modbus, Canbus, Ethernet, etc.)
- Advanced experience in control systems ( Field Instruments, I/Os etc)
- Knowledge of Allan Bradley programmable logic controllers (PLC) and fault finding
- Advanced experience in HMI systems

Service monitoring process
Monitor call-out rate on jobs and resolve "sick units" on the different routes.
Monitor daily/weekly repeat calls to identify sick units and ensure resolution.
Verify if callbacks are chargeable or not based on the technician's opinion
Monitor units on shutdown report and assist in resolution to have these units placed back into operation promptly. Liaise with technicians, branch admin and procurement to ensure all measures are taken to minimize downtime
Manage technical teams to ensure all maintenance is being completed safely, timeously and to the prescribed/legislated standard
Monitor completion of the biannual and annual inspections completed by technicians. Ensure this is being done and recorded correctly

Assist and travel to sites where technicians may be struggling with a call-out or repair
