Roles and Responsibilities
Staff Leadership & Oversight:
Supervise and support branch managers across assigned self-storage locations.
Provide training, performance reviews, branch audits, and operational guidance to ensure high performance.
Foster a positive and accountable workplace culture.

Operational Management:
Schedule and coordinate cleaners, gardeners, operations assistants and access controllers.
Oversee routine and emergency facility maintenance across sites.
Ensure each location meets operational standards.
Vehicle checks and maintenance scheduling.

Compliance & Security:
Conduct regular audits to assess cleanliness, security, and maintenance standards.
Ensure adherence to safety and security protocols and on-site procedures.
Investigate and resolve incidents.

Reporting:
Report on facility performance, branch employee performance and incident logs to executive management.
Customer Relations:
Support branch managers in resolving escalated customer issues.

Requirements:
3+ years of experience in operations, facilities or property management, or self-storage industry.
Prior management of multiple sites or teams strongly preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently.
Valid drivers license and reliable own vehicle and ability to travel between sites around Gauteng.

  • 5 + Years’ hands-on experience in Building / Maintenance / Construction / Civil Engineering.

  • Manage small to medium-sized modernisation projects with a solid understanding of construction trades.
  • Supervise contractors, ensuring quality workmanship, adherence to budgets, timelines, and compliance with building regulations.

Resident Interaction

  • Act as the point of contact for on-site issues, requiring empathy, patience, and clear communication, particularly when dealing with elderly residents.

Reporting & Coordination

  • Collaborate with the Head of Property, providing clear updates on maintenance activities, costs, and project progress.
  • First point of contact for afterhours emergency escalations.
  • Emergency response plan already in place, serious escalations to be reported to the Head of Property.

The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching-stream appointment in the Operations Management & Statistics Area. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.

Applicants must have earned a PhD in Operations Management or a PhD in a field related to Operations Management, such as Information Systems. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing strengths . Applicants must have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, including a strong demonstrated ability to integrate both theory and practice, evidence of effective communication and presentation skills; a demonstrated mastery of their subject area; a demonstrated commitment to excellence in pedagogical inquiry and teaching innovation; and an interest in teaching-related scholarly activities in operations management. Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree-granting management program, including lecture preparation and delivery, and curriculum development. Applicants must have the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate management courses in operations management, statistics, spreadsheet modelling, and business analytics.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference, and for short-listed candidates, a strong performance during the on-campus presentation. The teaching dossier includes a teaching statement, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations.
