Position Summary:

ROLE PURPOSE
The Operations engineering shift position have responsibilities focused on the smooth running of our customers environment ensuring server, storage, back-up, OS and application availability is maintained at the highest level. This is achieved by performing routine maintenance, implementing best practices etc. As an engineer you will be responsible for working on complex Incidents, problems and changes always adhering to ITIL principles. The Operations team operative 24/7 - 365 days a year on a rotational 12-hour shift schedule.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Event management - monitoring alarms from Logicmonitor and other tools, opening incidents in the ticketing system and notifying customers of an event within defined SLAs.
- Contact third party suppliers to log support calls, obtain updates on open support calls or request technical advice.
- Liaise with logistics team to ensure spares are delivered to a customer site where required.
- Liaise with the Maintenance team to ensure required parts are sourced and shipped to a customer site within SLA.
- Manage the “planned maintenance” process, receiving Carrier notifications of downtime and notifying the customer of any impact to service.
- Work closely with resource management to organise engineer to site where required.
- Carry out remote diagnostic tests and checks when incidents are logged by customers.
- Escalating calls to senior engineers or management as appropriate.
- Liaison with internal departments, vendors and suppliers where required.
- To take ownership of Customers’ requests and be proactive when dealing with Customers’ issues.
- To ensure all requests meet or exceed the contractual Service Level Agreements.
- Always maintain high customer-care levels.

Overview
Role purpose and responsibilities revolve around ensuring the smooth running of the customer environment, maintaining server, storage, back-up, OS and application availability at the highest level. The Operations engineering shift operates 24/7 on a rotational 12-hour shift schedule, handling complex incidents, problems and changes in adherence to ITIL principles.
Role Responsibilities- Event management - monitor alarms from Logicmonitor and other tools, open incidents in the ticketing system, and notify customers of events within defined SLAs.
- Contact third-party suppliers to log support calls, obtain updates, or request technical advice.
- Liaise with logistics to ensure spares are delivered to a customer site when required.
- Liaise with the Maintenance team to source and ship required parts to a customer site within SLA.
- Manage the “planned maintenance” process, receive Carrier downtime notifications, and inform the customer of any impact to service.
- Coordinate with resource management to organise engineer site visits as needed.
- Carry out remote diagnostic tests and checks when incidents are logged by customers.
- Escalate calls to senior engineers or management as appropriate.
- Collaborate with internal departments, vendors and suppliers as required.
- Take ownership of customer requests and be proactive in resolving issues, ensuring requests meet or exceed contractual SLAs and maintaining high customer-care levels.
- Provide advanced diagnostics when appropriate and implement routine and minor Change Requests.
- Daily backup and media actions performed per SLA.
- Identify fault trends, capture repeat faults, and undertake root cause analysis; proactively seek to improve and grow skills.
- Update customers by telephone or e-mail on progress, or request additional information; assist with customer projects, internal support projects, or support administration tasks.
- Carry out housekeeping tasks and handle incoming calls and emails from customers, ensuring timely action and communication.
- Perform Incident Management to restore service and provide input to customer-facing Technical Incident Reports.
- Attend to customer meetings and contribute technical consultancy as required; identify gaps in documentation and knowledge; create and maintain technical customer documentation.
- Ensure customer transition prerequisites are delivered by EPM and Project Management; undertake technical audits for key customers where issues are identified.
- Ad-hoc duties as required.
- Attend the Change Advisory Board for customer change requests.
- Represent Operations in meetings and working parties; provide technical consultancy usually via VC, and occasionally on-site.
- Identify gaps in existing technical documentation, knowledge and skills; create and maintain technical customer documentation.
- Ensure prerequisites for customer transition are delivered; undertake technical audits for key customers.

- Experience configuring, troubleshooting and administering Microsoft Windows Server OS (2008, 2012, 2016) and key roles (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, FTP and Clustering).
- Experience configuring, troubleshooting and administering VMware ESXi 5.1 – 6.x, vSphere SRM and vSphere Replication.
- Experience configuring, troubleshooting and administering Microsoft Hyper-V 2012 – 2016.
- Experience administering Microsoft Azure and Office 365.
- Experience administering/scheduling Backup and Replication Solutions (HP Data Protector, Veeam, Backup Exec).
- Experience configuring, troubleshooting and administering Exchange 2007, 2010 and 2016.
- Administration and configuration of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.
- Experience configuring, troubleshooting and administering ESET Antivirus solutions.
- Experience configuring, troubleshooting and administering Fortinet Appliances.
- Administration of HP and IBM Tape Libraries.
