About the Opportunity:
A leading institutional investment firm is seeking a dynamic and analytical Assistant Portfolio Manager to join their Listed Investments team , with a focus on the resources and mining sector . This role is ideal for a finance or investment professional with a solid grounding in equity research, portfolio analysis, and financial modelling , and a keen interest in the commodities and mining space.
You will support senior portfolio managers by conducting sector analysis, developing investment theses, and making recommendations that drive strategic portfolio decisions across the resources sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth fundamental equity research on mining and resources companies.
Analyse market, sector, and commodity trends to identify investment opportunities.
Develop and present investment cases and valuation models to the portfolio management team.
Assist in the construction and monitoring of resources-related investment portfolios .
Prepare detailed financial models, performance reports, and sector analyses .
Contribute to ongoing strategy discussions and portfolio reviews.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Investments, or a related field (Honours or postgraduate qualification preferred).
CFA or progress toward CFA will be a strong advantage.
Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in investment analysis, equity research, or portfolio support.
Proven exposure to the mining and resources industry, through analysis, transactions, or client portfolios, is essential.
Strong financial modelling , valuation, and analytical skills.
Excellent report-writing and presentation ability.
Proficiency in Bloomberg, Excel, and investment analysis tools will be advantageous.
