Zutari Tshwane / Cape Town is looking for Engineer’s Representatives (Resident Engineers) to join the team, responsible for contracts management within the project environment, with a special focus on SANRAL projects.
Responsibilities- Supervise all construction and installation activities on site and monitor contractor's progress
- Provide technical input to progress reports on all works on site, and offer regular updates on progress and measurements for work completed
- Review and monitor equipment, site staff and work methods; identify deficiencies that could lead to delays or quality issues
- Manage and report on all commercial matters: contractor’s invoices, issue Non-Conformance Reports, Site Instructions, record and justify delays or claims, variations ordered, address non-conformance and discrepancies
- Ensure site work, laboratory tests and designs are carried out in accordance with specifications, codes and standards, and HSE regulations
- Ensure proper record keeping of all site information up to date
- Manage on-site operation and staff
- Ensure strict safety, security and environmental protection measures during construction
- Support Contracts Engineer and Client in delivering the project in line with requirements, time frame and meets quality requirements
- Apply Site Management System based on ISO 9001 QMS
- BSc or BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering
- Pr Eng or Pr Tech Registration with ECSA
- Pr CMP Registration with SACPCMP (advantage)
- Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in construction and/or project site supervision
- Experience as Engineer’s Representative on SANRAL projects is required
- Thorough working knowledge of specifications and Bill of Quantities (COLTO/COTO, SANS 1200, project-specific)
- Thorough working knowledge of Conditions of Contract (FIDIC 1999, NEC 3/4, GCC 2010/2015 and JBCC) (beneficial)
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent client relations skills
- The experience should be with Client bodies being either SANRAL and/or Concessionaire and/or Provincial Authority; indicate relevant client body for each of three projects.
- The Applicant is required to have experience as the Engineer’s Representative (Resident Engineer) in Development/Improvement (Road upgrades) and/or Development New Facilities (New Road Infrastructure) (indicate relevant project type for each of three projects). Structural experience would be beneficial.

We are actively seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Resident Engineer/Engineers Representative (Renewable Energy). In this position, you will join our Transport business on a fixed-term contract employment basis, where you will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients across all types of transport-related projects.
The projects will entail providing Professional Services as the Owners Engineer for the Construction phase of Renewable Energy Projects. These projects are located in Limpopo and Free State provinces and will require support for Balance of Plant for a period between 6 and 12 months.
Here are the key things you will do to ‘bring ideas to life’:
- This role will report to the Civil Lead Engineer as the Engineers Representative.
- Operate independently and strictly according to the requirements of the contract.
- Monitor and report all activities on the construction site.
- Ensure that the project is constructed in accordance with the approved construction drawings, schedule, and specifications, and document these activities accordingly.
- Monitor and support reviews, material inspections, and safety inspections.
- Monitor and support quality assurance on site and time frame management.
Minimum Requirements:
- A minimum Certificate NTS (1,2,3) in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- A minimum of ten (10) years post-graduate experience in Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering works, preferably in the renewable energy field.
Preference will be given to Applicants who possess:
- At least eight (8) years’ experience as Resident Engineer/Engineers Representative on Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering Renewable energy.
