Duties & Responsibilities

Key Performance Areas:

  • Manage a team of electronic technicians and Electricians.
  • Maintain electronic process control systems – hardware and software.
  • Ensure that installation of new process control systems is done according to company standards.
  • Maintain field hardware – loop checks / calibration, etc.
  • Review process control philosophies and recommend optimisation.
  • Audit process control programmes regularly and ensure that changes that are made are carried out according to ISO procedure.
  • Ensure update information (electrical drawing, manuals, etc) regarding electronic systems.
  • Coordinate (program) individual machine output to optimise overall line performance.
  • Ensure proper access control to electronic system.
  • Fault finding and maintaining electronic equipment.
  • Ensure current backup for electronic systems on the designated server location.
  • Perform all relevant administrative functions.
  • Provide second line problem solving across the plant during and after hours when required.
  • Improving line control systems.
  • Liaise with original equipment suppliers to provide support.
  • Train / coach Electronic Technicians, Electrical Artisans, and Machine Specialists.
Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualification, experience/skills:

  • Recognised N6 Electrical Engineering Certificate and a trade test certificate/ S4 Electrical/ Electronic National Diploma.
  • Knowledge of bottling equipment, workshop and engineering practices, tools, and apparatus.
  • Minimum of 5 years practical experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in maintenance of electronic systems.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in PLC programming (Siemens).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Networks (Profibus/Net, EtherNet, Asi, Canbus etc).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Inspection and Coding.
  • 2 years’ experience in managing a Team.
  • Knowledge of packaging/ bottling equipment.
  • Have proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations regarding tools.
  • Knowledge in FMCG environment will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of all workshop/engineering tools, machines, apparatus, and materials.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.

* Leading and advising the technical team on the execution of the engineering Design, Assembly, Integration and Verification activities.
* Performing Engineering & Contract Management to deliver the companies contacts on time and on brief through thorough planning and diligent management.

* Ensuring the delivered systems meet the stakeholder's needs by maintaining traceability of requirements throughout the design evolution and managing baselines (DBL, QBL, PBL, OsBL) and the reviews thereof.
* Integrating and delivering systems with verified performance and quality through preparing & overseeing the execution of verification activities according to verification plans (ATPs/QTPs, ATRs/QTRs) and setting to work of the products and products systems.
* To ensure the delivered systems continue to operate and deliver the expected performance through root cause analysis and problem solving and managing the implementation of design modifications to eliminate failure modes.
* To ensure continued improvement in knowledge growth, retention and management by ensuring that project SEMPs, QAPs, ILSPs, technical schedules, WBS & SOWs are implemented and maintained and continuous mentoring & coaching of SE resources.

Key Requirements:
Qualification:
* B.Eng/B.Sc (Eng) (NQF 8) with 13+ years RELEVANT Experience; or
* M.Eng (NQF 9) with 10+ years RELEVANT Experience; or
* PhD/D.Eng (NQF 10) with 7+ years RELEVANT Experience.
* Meets the requirements for registration with ECSA as PrEng

Experience:
* Leading engineering teams, tasks and analysis while employing theoretical and practical knowledge gained on the job.
* Proven experience in physical, hands-on integration, testing and evaluation of complicated systems which include RF, digital, electronic and mechanical elements combined with fixed infrastructure.
* Leading the development and implementation of engineering processes.
* Using advanced interpersonal skills in order to influence change in complex systems behaviour and operational environments.
* Undertaking engineering activities throughout all lifecycle phases of systems under development, with particular focus on the concurrent engineering aspects and the design for supportability aspects.
* Functioning simultaneously across multiple domains, teams and on multiple systems.
* Coaching and mentoring in engineering, particularly systems engineering.

Knowledge:
* Internationally recognized for advanced applied Systems Engineering.
* Assembly, integration, test and verification of complex systems.
* Baseline establishment and management.
* Engineering change control.

  • Monitor and manage the IT operational support for Point of Presence and other supported First Rand business units while ensuring adherence to business requirements and expectations (SLA)
  • In their designated area they are responsible for monitoring, communicating and vendor management of regional Service Level Reports
  • Identification of problems and trends and initiate action on relevant teams to rectify
  • Track all known regional problems until successful resolution
  • Recommendation of service improvement initiatives
  • Track and report Service issues caused by changes
  • Enforce adherence to standards and processes in both operational and project areas
  • Escalate and / or fix non-compliance to standards and processes
  • Interface between regional business teams and Point of Presence IT.
  • Establish and build relationships with key regional stakeholders within Point of Presence and other relevant business units
  • Drive and adhere to Point of Presence processes and defined IT infrastructure standards in alignment with ITIL best practice with a focus on continuous service improvement
  • Manage all Asset movements and Procurement on behalf of Branch.
  • Project co-ordination and involvement to ensure timely delivery of projects in accordance with project scope and charter.
  • Major Capex Projects: Revamp, New, Relocation and Closures, Mobile Branches
  • Accountable for self-management of performance, time and costs
  • Assist with identification of potential IT resources from branch network
  • Produce feedback report on regional IT performance
  • A minimum of 5 years solid experience in IT operations, software and hardware support across various platforms.
  • Experience in the application of an IT Service Framework (for example ITIL) is preferred
  • Project Management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Solid experience in interacting with internal customers with demonstrated customer service orientation. Must have a technical background with a strong preference for hands-on support in a large IT environment

You Will Be an Ideal Candidate If You Have

  • 4-5 Years Experience in IT Project Management
  • Minimum 5 years experience in banking or financial industry
  • ITIL V3 qualification
  • A technology qualification is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree (NQF Level 7) in Information Systems , Information Technology, or a related field is usually required
