Qualifications
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in operations management, preferably in solar, renewable energy, or electrical contracting industries.
• Proven track record of managing installation projects (residential, commercial, and agricultural).
Technical Skills
• Strong understanding of solar PV systems and electrical installations.
• Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar).
• Familiarity with inventory management systems and supply chain processes.
Management Skills
• Experience in leading teams and managing personnel.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Financial acumen with experience in budget and cost management.

Other Requirements
• Valid driver’s license and vehicle.

Responsibilities and Requirements

· Develop periodically the operational objectives and key performance indicators for asset utilisation and capacity maximization for each equipment and/or process within the department.Applies scientific and engineering knowledge in support of Production, Maintenance and Equipment reliability with emphasis on process reliability and predictability.

· Implement process parameter controls and monitor daily. Initiate and managing actions to prevent/correct deviations.

· Develop documented SOP’s, SWP’s and Job cards in conjunction with Zone members and provide focus on process reliability. Do audits on SOP’s, SWP’s and process Job cards.

· Implement management of change

· Facilitate and lead in RCA investigation for process deviations and equipment failures

· Ensure proper maintenance philosophy and strategies are developed and rolled out to relevant plants.

· Lead, coach, and mentor team members.

· Not afraid of heights or confined spaces.

· Lead Capital projects; and organize and negotiate the allocation of resources.

· Apply agile methodology in the design of solutions to support the AMSA business transformation.

· Oversee all reports and documentation related to system support and projects in the environment.

· Conduct system feasibility studies and testing.

· Technically support AMSA plants and projects as and when required.

Experience and Requirements:

  • 5-8 years’ experience in Process or Reliability Engineering
  • 5 years’ experience working in the Steel Industry will be an advantage
  • Exposure to utility generation/distribution/treatment (steam, compressed air, power, water, electricity) will be advantageous
  • Exposure to integrated utility distribution systems will be advantageous
  • Excellent understanding and application of project management principles
  • Experience in preventative maintenance processes, condition monitoring, Root-Cause Analysis, risk management, etc.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously
Qualification Requirement:
  • Applicable BEng in Mechanical/Electrical degree NQF 7

Introduction Arcelor Mittal South Africa is hiring for a Senior Engineer Process Lead Energy Distribution - Primary Operations - Vanderbijlpark (S3) Responsibilities and Requirements · Develop periodically the operational objectives and key performance indicators for asset utilisation and capacity maximization for each equipment and/or process within the department. Applies scientific and engineering knowledge in support of Production, Maintenance and Equipment reliability with emphasis on process reliability and predictability. · Implement process parameter controls and monitor daily. Initiate and managing actions to prevent/correct deviations. · Develop documented SOP’s, SWP’s and Job cards in conjunction with Zone members and provide focus on process reliability. Do audits on SOP’s, SWP’s and process Job cards. · Implement management of change · Facilitate and lead in RCA investigation for process deviations and equipment failures · Ensure proper maintenance philosophy and strategies are developed and rolled out to relevant plants. · Lead, coach, and mentor team members. · Not afraid of heights or confined spaces. · Lead Capital projects; and organize and negotiate the allocation of resources. · Apply agile methodology in the design of solutions to support the AMSA business transformation. · Oversee all reports and documentation related to system support and projects in the environment. · Conduct system feasibility studies and testing. · Technically support AMSA plants and projects as and when required. To anchor our leading market position and sustain our growth, we are looking for an enthusiastic Solar PV or Wind Renewable Energy Engineer with experience to join our team based in Cape Town, where you will be working with our team of experienced experts who your continuous sounding board while you serve the needs of our customers.

Your job will be versatile and dynamic: one day you will be with your boots on, inspecting a construction site when the other day you will be behind your PC screen analysing the expected yield or fine-tuning a PV design.

In this role, you will be delighting our clients (developers, IPPs, banks, investors etc.) with your projects under construction follow reporting, design and technology review, energy yield estimations for utility scale solar PV or wind projects while gradually getting trained in performing feasibility studies, either from the office or during site inspections.

Your main tasks will be:

  • You will perform technical feasibility studies.
  • You will manage the project and oversee its progress from start to finish.
  • You will manage the project under construction and provide follow-up reporting.
  • You will review contracts and overall project design, technology, and suggest potential improvements.
  • You will perform the energy yield calculations using industry-recognised software tools and internal tools and processes.
  • You will report to clients and lenders.
  • You will perform site inspections before, during and after construction of the projects.
  • You will interact directly with customers, written as well as verbally.

You will work within the core of our consultancy team which will give you all at hand to quickly explore the wonderful solar PV/BESS and/or wind energy world. At first, you will work as an expert on a project managed by one of your colleagues and gradually you will be taking the role of project manager yourself.

You will be reporting within our Africa team which is a combination of Due Diligence experts, Owner's Engineers and Resource Assessment experts.

We are looking for a dynamic colleague who is eager to learn, who can bring an open and flexible mindset and who has very strong organisational skills.

Of course, there are some non-negotiables:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent through experience (Master's degree is a plus)
  • You have a minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • You are familiar with technical due diligence on SOLAR/BESS and/or WIND projects.
  • You are familiar with reviewing and specifically experienced with PV EPC, O&M, PPA and Wind turbine contracts review (EPC, WTG supply contract, O&M, PPA) , as Lender’s/ Owner’s technical advisor.
  • You have experience working with Lenders and IPP's (Independent Power Producers).
  • You have experience with technical solar and/or wind turbine inspections construction monitoring.
  • You have been involved in both feasibility studies and project execution phases, including technical assessments, performance analysis, and system optimization.
  • You have strongoverall computer skills and the ability to learn multiple software tools.
  • You have a critical mind and are able to question ideas and assumptions.
  • You have very good organizational skills and are able to manage multiple jobs simultaneously, on time, budget and quality.
  • You have the ability of conveying information in a clear and concise way and adapting your communication style to suit different types of audiences.
  • You are fluent in spoken and written English.
  • You have an affinity and interest for everything related to renewable energy.
  • You have a valid working permit in South Africa.
