We are seeking a qualified and motivated Solar Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of solar systems, as well as managing solar installation teams and handling related administration.
Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified Red Seal Electrician .
- SAPVIA certification (advantageous but not mandatory).
- At least 2 years experience in a similar role (candidates with less experience will be considered).
- Strong customer relations and sales experience (beneficial).
- Proven team management skills.
- Strong administrative abilities.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite .
- Own vehicle and valid drivers licence.
- Willingness to travel.
Key Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to) :
- Install solar systems according to industry standards and regulations.
- Perform scheduled and ad-hoc maintenance on installed solar systems.
- Monitor and troubleshoot solar system performance.
- Design solar systems and prepare accurate quotations.
- Manage and supervise the solar installation team.
- Handle administrative tasks related to projects and team operations.

A leading solar company situated in Cape Town is urgently seeking the expertise of an experienced Solar Installation Electrician (3-phase) to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- Installation and Wiring: Install solar panels, inverters, batteries, and associated electrical components following wiring diagrams and manufacturer guidelines. Connect and route wiring to the appropriate electrical systems, including three-phase systems, to ensure efficient power distribution.
- Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar power systems. Identify and resolve electrical issues, such as faulty connections, damaged wiring, or malfunctioning components. Repair or replace defective parts as needed.
- Electrical Safety: Adhere to all safety regulations and industry standards when working with electrical systems. Follow proper lockout procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimise risks and ensure a safe working environment.
- Testing and Commissioning: Conduct testing and commissioning activities to verify the functionality and performance of solar power systems. Use specialised tools and equipment to measure electrical parameters, diagnose faults, and ensure compliance with system specifications.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of all installation, maintenance, and repair activities. Prepare detailed reports on system performance, issues encountered, and solutions implemented. Provide recommendations for system improvements and upgrades.
- Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with team members, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely completion of projects. Communicate effectively to convey technical information, project progress, and any potential challenges or delays.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to solar power systems. Participate in training programs, workshops, and certifications to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Issue Certificate of Compliance: Issue a COC upon successful completion of installation. Should a site not meet standards, communicate with relevant stakeholders such as project manager, site manager and team leader to ensure errors have been corrected. Should an error occur which is fixable immediately, then this will need to be completed directly on site to ensure no time delays occur with the installation.
Requirements:
- Valid 3-phase wireman’s license as approved by the Department of Labour.
- Experience with issuing certificate of compliance (COC) for a minimum of one (1) year.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the installation of Solar PV projects according to the provided design.
- Enforce applicable HR codes and company policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on quality and safety.
- Follow engineering drawings and install systems to specifications.
- Learn the company’s standards within the 3-month probation period.
- Understand the workflow and standards of project sites within 6 months.
- Be capable of running a full site within 12 months of starting with the company.
- Install AC and DC components, cable trays, and DB boards.
- Wire and configure DB boards as necessary.
- Complete post-project documentation, including DC quality checklists, in-progress and final photos, and labelling.

- Ensure that there are adequate materials and equipment to safely and efficiently complete projects.
- Maintain and inspect test equipment, including periodic calibration checks.
- Be responsible for all equipment issued by the company.
- Drive responsibly and be accountable for any fines issued to the allocated vehicle.
- Report roadworthiness and future dated services of the company vehicle issued to you.
- Maintain excellent lines of communication.
- Provide constructive feedback to management.
- Report accurately worked hours and stand down and communicate to the HR manager.
- Ensure accuracy of your own as well as your team’s timesheets.
- Maintain housekeeping at work locations, including the site, office, and company vehicle.
Requirements:
- Preferably a qualified electrician or 5 years in a similar role.
- Experience with AC installation.
- Proficient in DC installations.
