Job Purpose

Responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of electrical installation, maintenance, and repair on board ships. This role requires extensive hands-on experience in marine electrical systems, a deep understanding of safety protocols, and a valid Wireman's License. The Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring all projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• N3 Electrical Engineering Certificate
• ND in Electrical Engineering
  (Advantage)
• 3 Phase Wireman's License (IE)
  (Non-negotiable)
• National Trade Test Certificate or Military Artisan Certificate provided by OEM or accredited agent of OEM.

Required Experience:

• 5 Years' experience in electrical installations on board Ships
• 3 Years Fault Finding & Repairs.
• 3 Years Direct, hands-on experience with electrical installations and systems on board ships, offshore platforms, or other marine vessels.
• 2-3 Years Proven experience in a supervisory or team lead role.
• Maintenance and repairs of ships systems: Electrical, electronic & control systems
  (Advantage)

Required Knowledge:

• Advanced Knowledge of Installations rules & regulations on board ships
• Knowledge of Electrical systems, especially MCC's.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
• Basic knowledge of Soft Starters and Drives setup and commissioning.
• Knowledge of electrical equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of electrical hazards.
• Basic knowledge of MS Office and Outlook.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Knowledge of Schneider & Siemens electrical products

• Knowledge of Electrical systems functional design analyses

• Technical Skills:

• Implementation of technical plans onsite with minimal supervision.
• Compliance and Safety:
• Experience in adhering to and complying with construction and electrical safety legislation.
• Additional Requirements:
• Valid driver's license.

Assist Electrical team attending to incidents reported via the Control and Helpdesk Administrator, responsible for electrical maintenance and installations, fault finding and has to ensure that safety standards are adhered to and maintained.

Job Objectives

• Planning and preparation process for the wiring, connection, testing, inspecting, commissioning, and maintaining of electrical installations and control systems.

• Plan and prepare for electrical installations and control systems under the direct supervision of a qualified person.

• Undertake all activities without assistance, but under supervision, to plan and prepare for electrical installations.

• Observe and assist a qualified electrician in the processes of installation, wiring and connection of electrical equipment and control systems.

• Install, wire, and connect electrical equipment and control systems under the direct supervision of a qualified electrician.

• Undertake all activities without assistance, but under supervision, to install, wire and connect electrical equipment and control systems.

• Observe and assist a qualified electrician in the processes of testing and inspecting of electrical equipment, control systems and installations.

• Test and inspect electrical equipment, control systems and installations under the direct supervision of a qualified electrician.

• Undertake all activities without assistance, but under supervision, in the processes of testing and inspecting of electrical equipment, control systems and installations.

• Observe and assist and experienced bricklayer with the brick laying processes to construct, repair and/or make alterations to superstructures within the construction environment.

• Commission electrical installations and control systems under the direct supervision of a qualified electrician.

• Undertake all activities without assistance, but under supervision, to commission electrical installations and control systems.

• Observe and assist a qualified electrician in the maintenance processes for equipment, control systems and electrical installations.

• Maintain equipment, control systems and electrical installations under the direct supervision of a qualified electrician.
