Role Responsibilities:

1. Manage full design aspects for Electrical and Electronic Services mainly across our Data Centre portfolio.
2. Analysing project requirements in the context of various codes and standards and develop conceptual designs through to a set of construction information.
3. Directing a small team to ensure compliant designs are delivered to agreed programmes.
4. Manage and coordinate interdisciplinary interfaces.
5. Develop scripts and add-ins to automate repetitive design aspects and/or to check various design compliance aspects (using e.g., Dynamo, Python).
6. Strong understanding of local, international codes and standards, including those applicable to South Africa, Middle East & Australia.
7. Representation at client and professional meetings and being able to present work and engage in technical conversations.
8. Maintaining accountability for resourcing, timeliness, quality, risk management, project financial performance, scope management, and keeping the client informed on project progress.
9. BSc/BEng, or MSc/MEng in Electrical Engineering.
10. Active professional registration with a certified engineering body.
11. Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer within the Data Centre and/or Built Environment. (International experience will be highly advantageous).
12. Strong technical view of building services, focusing mainly on Electrical and Electronics.
13. Uptime Institute certification would be an advantage.
14. Strong proficiency in Revit would be an advantage working on your projects.
15. Strong proficiency in EOM and electrical simulation software is highly advantageous.

About the Role

Our client, a leading player in the renewable energy sector, is looking for a Senior Projects Manager with a strong technical background and proven experience in electrical reticulation —including Medium Voltage (MV), High Voltage (HV), and Low Voltage (LV) systems , Eskom connections , and distribution & transmission line projects .

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of large-scale renewable energy projects from planning through to grid connection, ensuring compliance with Eskom, NERSA, and other relevant authorities.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the end-to-end management of renewable energy projects (Solar, Wind, Hybrid), with a focus on grid integration and reticulation infrastructure

Manage MV, HV, and LV electrical design, construction, and commissioning

Ensure compliance with Eskom, municipal and other utility provider standards

Liaise with Eskom for grid code compliance, permitting, and power purchase agreements (PPA)

Lead project teams and contractors, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and schedule

Develop project timelines, track milestones, and manage risks proactively

Coordinate with engineering, procurement, environmental and legal teams

Provide regular progress reports to senior stakeholders

Ensure SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality) standards are maintained on-site

Required Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or related field

Minimum 8–10 years' project management experience in electrical infrastructure or renewable energy projects

Proven experience working with MV, HV lines , Eskom connections , substations , transformers , and reticulation systems

Knowledge of NERSA , Grid Code , SSEG , and municipal technical requirements

PMP or PRINCE2 certification would be an advantage

Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills

Willingness to travel to remote project locations across South Africa

• Electrical engineering tertiary qualification, Professional registration with ECSA (or other appropriate institution), or willing to pursue professional registration.

• Lead the full substation design scope (110kV-400kV), including layouts, SLDs, protection and control schematics, busbar configurations (AIS/GIS), grounding, and cable routing.
• Oversee production and review of detailed engineering drawings, including GA, wiring diagrams, control panels, schematics, and cable schedules.
• Coordinate civil/electrical interface design for site layouts, foundations, ducts and trenches.
