Electrical Designer
This role leads the electrical design process from concept through to production, ensuring robust designs, accurate documentation, and hands-on technical support to the factory floor. You will help maintain quality systems, champion best-practice design processes, and mentor trainee designers to uplift capability across the team.

• Oversee electrical design activities from specification to release
• Produce accurate production documentation, including core and wiring sheets
• Provide timely technical support to the factory and troubleshoot issues on the floor
• Ensure electrical design principles, processes, and practices are correctly implemented
• Assist with training and development of trainee designers
• Maintain compliance with manufacturing processes and quality systems, driving continuous improvement

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
• 5+ years of electrical design experience; manufacturing environment experience advantageous
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality systems
• Proven problem-solving ability with strong organization and communication skills
• Comfortable providing on-floor technical support and contributing to process improvements
• Able to work standard hours (8:00 -17:00)

• Design and develop electrical systems, schematics, and layouts for new and existing projects
• Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and calculations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Mechanical Engineers, Project Managers, and contractors
• Ensure compliance with national and international electrical standards and codes (e.g., IEC, BS7671, and NEC)
• Support project delivery from concept through to commissioning

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience in electrical design (building services, control systems, etc.)
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software
• Knowledge of electrical regulations and health & safety standards
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Reference: Pta -EP-2

Electrical Designer required for an established company in Midrand. Aircraft/Avionics. 2-3 years of relevant working experience in MCC schematic diagrams, protection block diagrams, cable schedules, single line drawings, power distribution layouts, etc.

Minimum requirements and experience required:

1. Degree or National Diploma (Electrical Engineering) or Draughtsman certification
2. 2-3 years of proven working experience in electrical design (Aircraft/Avionics would be advantageous)
3. AutoCAD Electrical

1. Produce and maintain technical and engineering drawings using 2D/3D CAD software
2. Produce drawings and designs for electrical systems (motor control centre schematic diagrams, protection block diagrams, cable schedules, single line drawings, power distribution layouts, general arrangement drawings, and grounding/earthing designs)
3. Complete cable tray/rack routing and design 3D modelling

• Develop detailed bill of materials from control concepts.
• Document the control concept in E-Plan software.
• Continually improve design philosophy based on international and local electrical standards.
• Apply electrical principals to ensure sound operation of company projects.

• Matric
• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current) advantageous
• 3 + Years experience in E-Plan version 8
• Strong understanding of electrical processes and knowledge of SANS 10142
• Electrical panel building skills
• Intermediate Excel proficiency
• Drivers License and own transport essential Flexible and able to work overtime on short notice
