Overview
Our Academic Center for Excellence is seeking a Student Success Coach to join their team. The Student Success Coach will provide individual, appreciative, and transformational student advocacy on matters such as academic performance, college-life navigation, and resource referrals. This position will collaborate with academic advising to provide a committed, consistent, and transparent support system for students. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Coaching and Mentoring and will partner to create and facilitate PNW’s Student Success Hub.

Duties And Responsibilities- Supports Assistant Director of Student Coaching and Retention in analyzing and tracking persistence data, identifying effective practices and opportunities for improvement.
- Identify and engage at-risk populations through targeted outreach, partnering with campus resources and Care Teams to address complex student needs and promote use of the Student Success Hub.
- Meet with students to assess support needs, create individualized action plans, and conduct recurring appointments to monitor academic progress and ensure follow-through on success strategies.
- Oversee student accountability groups while providing guidance on college policies and connect students to appropriate PNW resources to support their success.
- Collaborate with peer mentors to develop workshops that promote Student Success Hub services and guide them in supporting students with action plan items such as time management, resource utilization, and goal setting.
- Maintain detailed records in the student system while leveraging it for communication through notes, texts, emails, and targeted campaigns to ensure consistent student engagement between appointments.
- Foster strong student relationships by providing motivation and support, and maintaining a safe, welcoming space for open communication.

Education- Bachelor’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field (e.g., social work, counseling, education).
- Master’s degree in higher education or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of professional work experience in an academic advising and/or retention-related position.
- Experience in public higher education, preferred.
- Ability to learn, understand, interpret and relay the full range of student services available, including enrollment services, academic policies & procedures of PNW and associated federal & state regulations.

The minimum qualification required is a four-year professional degree in psychology, social work, or education with an emphasis on psycho-social and developmental/educational support;
Professional registration as a Psychologist, Registered Counsellor, Social Worker, Educational Psychologist or as an Educator with at least an honours in educational psychology or inclusive education; and
At least 3 years' experience in coaching, advising or teaching diverse students related to enhancing academic success and retention in a higher education setting

What To Expect During The Application And Interview Process- Video Interview: As the second step, you’ll need to submit a short video interview where you'll answer four questions, with each response being 2 minutes or less. This will help us get to know you better.
- Assessment Task: Next, you’ll complete a brief assessment, which will be the first step in the interview process, designed to help us evaluate some of the technical skills essential for this role. This assessment mirrors some of the common tasks you would be expected to perform in the role independently after your initial 2 weeks of training.
- Interview with the Hiring Team: Candidates who successfully complete the first two stages will be invited to a final 30-45 minute interview with our hiring team. This interview is specifically designed to answer any questions you may still have about the position, and provide clarity on the day-to-day responsibilities. We will also cover a few behavioral based interview questions to assess culture and work style fit.
All stages of the process will be conducted in English.
What you will do- Build strong 1:1 relationships with assigned students
- Proactively coach students on motivation, time management, and study strategies
- Help students navigate barriers to success and refer at-risk learners for support
- Track student progress and flag disengagement in Planhat
- Participate in live events and sprint launches when assigned
- Keep documentation up-to-date for all student interactions
- Submit reports, metrics, and trends as requested by Program Lead
- Collaborate with peers for shift coverage, cross-support, and best practices
- Schedule: Monday - Thursday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (Any US Time Zone); Friday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (Any US Time Zone)
- Maintain timely responses: within 2 hours during active windows
- English fluency — our students are American; many team members are native, so fluency is necessary
- Fast learner — we conduct a lot of experiments and frequently change processes; it’s acceptable not to know something but essential to learn and adapt quickly
- Attention to numbers and analytics (Excel, Notion, Miro) — a Learning Coach calculates statistics and collects data manually; requires patience and attention to numbers
- Desire to help and care for people — Learning Coaches support students, check up on motivation, and solicit feedback
- Ability to thrive in a fast-changing environment and lateral problem-solving
- Laptop capable of running Notion, Miro, Slack, Discord, Planhat CRM, LMS, etc.; reliable internet (minimum 20 Mbps download, 5 Mbps upload); earphones for high audio quality
- $1000 Gross per month, with the opportunity to earn up to $1300 in monthly bonuses (KPI-based)
- Full-time remote contract-based collaboration
- A comfortable digital office with modern tools (Miro, Notion, Google Meet) to facilitate collaboration
