The main focus of the role is supporting our Anti Money Laundering activities, in particular to ensure we are able to identify and understand a customer’s source of wealth (SOW) and source of funds (SOF), and from that make a decision on their ongoing activity in line with regulations.
What You’ll Be Doing
As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:
Enhanced Due Diligence (Source of Wealth & Source of Funds) Reviews:
- Undertake EDD Reviews of customers using open-source material, information and/or documentation provided by the customer, as well as customer data contained within internal systems.
- Contact customers via phone call and email in line with the communications plan.
- Document everything in the task management system.
- Escalate customers who do not meet affordability and responsible gambling requirements.
- EDD Analyst to monitor and action Deposit Limit Review Requests, Transaction Monitoring and other triggers to determine whether EDD is required.
- Assist with other adhoc tasks if/ when required.
- Utilising Tableau, Power BI and other systems to assist in conducting your reviews and monitor performance.
Essential Skills You’ll Bring To The Table
The necessary skills that we require for this role include:
- Spanish first language – strong written and verbal communication skills
- Fluent in English; able to communicate effectively (read, write and speak fluently)
- Valid work/residence permit for Cape Town, South Africa
- Minimum of 12 months experience within AML environment
- Strong understanding of regulations, processes, policies and procedures
It would be great if you also have some of the following skills:
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft products
- Compliance & Responsible Gambling Knowledge

Role Purpose
As a member of Worley’s global Compliance team to promote, oversee and implement Worley’s compliance program to ensure that the location’s project operations and functions act adhering to and in compliance with Worley’s Values and Code of Conduct.
The role responsibilities include :
- Being a key point of contact for the ethics and compliance due diligence of third-party business partners in the EMEA region and ensure that due diligence is conducted on all third parties in this region before entering a business relationship
- Conduct risk based due diligence of existing, new, and potential third parties, to identify risks from ethics and compliance perspective including bribery, corruption, money laundering, modern slavery, sanctions, and other unethical conduct.
- Prepare and communicate suitable risk mitigation plans based on the risks identified.
- Mentor and lead the due diligence team members supporting EMEA region in the third-party due diligence process and ensure timely completion of the team’s actionable.
- Identify any gaps arising in the due diligence process on an ongoing basis and escalating relevant matters to the Compliance Program Manager and Chief Compliance Officer.
- Provide guidance to leadership and personnel in the EMEA region on matters relating to ethics and compliance due diligence.
- Develop an annual plan of compliance activities with the location leadership. This should align with the regional compliance roadmap and the global compliance program.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver compliance trainings and workshops in English and other known regional languages to Worley employees as well as third party contractors working on Worley projects to promote ethical conduct, compliance to standards and obligations, confidential reporting of ethical and compliance concerns, including regular topics to specific target groups and leadership.
- Provide necessary support with compliance audits.
- Work closely with the location’s leadership.
- Provide regular updates to the Compliance team.

This role can be based in Durban, Cape Town or Midrand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Unique opportunity to deliver international projects with a primary focus on Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA’S) to meet development finance institution requirements and ESG/ESIA due diligences based on IFC and Equator Principles Standards.
- Experience with preparing and implementing Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS) will be advantageous.
- Key client/account relationship management, participation in marketing and business development activities, and development of ESIA and ESDD proposals.
- Contribute to and drive the business strategy for the ESIA and ESDD service sector.
- Where required, provide a support role to the delivery of ESIAs in line with South African and international lender standards, and permit compliance audits in terms South African legal requirements.
- Delivering local and international (Africa) ESDD projects.
- Undertake permit compliance audits in terms of South African legal requirements.
Health and Safety:
- Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with the company’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you.
- Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm.
- Embracing, displaying and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times.
Qualifications
- An Honours or higher degree in a relevant environmental and/or social discipline
Key Competencies and Generic Skills:
- 6 years or more experience as an environmental specialist leading and delivering local and international (Africa) ESDD and ESIA consulting assignments.
- Professionally Qualified in SACNASP and/or EAPASA.
- Extensive experience with delivering local and international (Africa) ESDD projects at project level (typically ESIA due diligence) and in support of corporate mergers and acquisitions against Lender standards.
- In depth knowledge of, and the ability to pragmatically apply the international ESG performance standards (IFC, AfDB, EBRD Performance Standards, ILO Core Conventions, King III / IV, and the World Bank General and sector specific EHS Guidelines etc.)
- Demonstrable project experience in several of the following sectors: conventional and renewable power generation and transmission, road and rail infrastructure, ports and marine infrastructure, mining, oil and gas, and industrial manufacturing facilities.
- Knowledgeable in a wide range of environmental and social sub-disciplines (i.e. air quality, ecological impact, occupational health and safety, resettlement planning, labour practices etc.)
- Strong experience in Sub Sahara Africa (outside of South Africa) and ability to travel.
- Strong technical report writing skills, producing professional reports in fluent English.
- Strong project management skills.
- Comfortable to engage in client-facing business development.
Strong preference will be given to:
- Candidates who are able to read, write and converse in French or Portuguese.
- Candidates with knowledge of Impact Investing, Sustainability reporting and Governance.
- Candidates with strong ESDD experience and/or financial sector client exposure.
The following will also be advantageous:
- Significant experience with mining projects.

- Deliver international projects with a primary focus on Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) to meet international finance institution requirements (e.g. IFC, World Bank) and Equator Principle Standards and delivering local and international (Africa) Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) projects based on IFC and Equator Principles Standards to also meet local and international Lender standards.
- Key client/account relationship management, participation in marketing and business development activities, and development of ESIA and ESDD proposals.
- Contribute to and drive the business strategy for the ESIA and ESDD service sector.
- Where required, provide a support role to the delivery of ESIAs in line with South African and international lender standards, and permit compliance audits in terms South African legal requirements.
- Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behavior consistent with the company’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you
- Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm
- Embracing, displaying and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times
- An Honours or higher degree in a relevant environmental and/or social discipline
- 6 years or more experience as an environmental specialist leading and delivering local and international (Africa) ESIA, ESDD and construction/operation E&S monitoring assignments.
- Professionally Qualified in SACNASP and/or EAPASA.
- Extensive experience with delivering local and international (Africa) ESDD projects.
- In depth knowledge of, and the ability to pragmatically apply the international ESG performance standards (IFC, AfDB, EIB Standards, ILO Core Conventions, and the World Bank General and sector specific EHS Guidelines etc.)
- Demonstrable project experience in several of the following sectors: conventional and renewable power generation and transmission, road and rail infrastructure, water treatment, supply and distribution, ports and marine infrastructure, mining, oil and gas, and industrial manufacturing facilities.
- General knowledge of a wide range of environmental and social sub-disciplines (i.e. air quality, ecological impact, occupational health and safety, social & resettlement planning, labour practices etc.)
- Strong experience in Sub Saharan Africa (outside of South Africa) and ability to travel.
- Strong technical report writing skills, producing professional reports in fluent English.
- Strong project management skills.
- Comfortable to engage in client-facing business development.
Strong preference will be given to:
- Candidates with experience with international ESDDs and, ESIAs
- Candidates with financial sector client exposure.
- Candidates with experience in mining, renewable energy and/or infrastructure projects.
- Candidates who are able to read, write and converse in French or Portuguese.
- Candidates who have a relevant financial qualification
- Experience with EHS compliance auditing
- Knowledge of Impact Investing, Sustainability reporting and Governance.
- Experience with preparing and implementing Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS)
