YOUR CORE FOCUS AREAS:
Transport Operations Management
• Plan, manage, and optimize daily transport operations, including routing, dispatch, and scheduling.
• Ensure compliance with transport policies and legal regulations.
• Drive efficiency through technology, route optimization, and cost control.
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve communication and deliveryprocesses.
Fleet Management
• Oversee vehicle maintenance, servicing, and licensing.
• Ensure fleet compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Monitor costs and recommend fleet procurement or disposal strategies.
• Analyze vehicle and driver usage for improved efficiency.
Risk & Compliance
• Conduct safety audits and enforce health and safety regulations.

Stakeholder & Customer Engagement
• Manage third-party transport providers and ensure service quality.
• Resolve escalated customer issues and support audit compliance.
• Collaborate with customer service to meet delivery expectations.
Budget Management
• Monitor transport-related expenditures and stay within budget.
• Analyze variances and implement cost-saving initiatives.
People Management
• Lead and develop the transport team.
• Manage performance, training, recruitment, and disciplinary actions.
Fleet Department Functions
• Manage vehicle procurement, branding, supplier negotiations, and fleet policy compliance.
• Support technical issues and ensure roadworthiness across regions.
Transport Compliance Functions
• Ensure vehicles comply with NRTA and licensing requirements.
• Manage fuel usage, traffic fines, driver accountability, and incident reporting.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Matric.
• Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Transport / Operations Management / Logistics Management /
Supply Chain Management.
• 3 - 5 years’ experience in a transport supervisory role within a fleet / logistics environment.
• 1 – 2 years’ management experience.

• Manage daily operations across forecourt, convenience store, and coffee shop
• Lead and supervise a diverse team including fuel attendants, cashiers, and café staff
• Oversee fuel and retail stock control, ordering, and inventory accuracy
• Drive sales performance and implement local marketing and promotions
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations (HSSE)
• Deliver exceptional customer service aligned with brand expectations
• Manage daily cash-ups, POS systems, and financial reporting
• Maintain site cleanliness, functionality, and professional presentation
• Engage with suppliers, reps, and attend relevant regional meetings

• 5+ years' experience in fuel retail or similar high-volume retail environment
• Strong team leadership, staff training, and performance management skills
• Financial and stock management experience essential
• Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in MS Office and POS/inventory systems

The incumbent is responsible for the daily coordination, monitoring, and management of a company’s vehicle fleet. This role ensures that vehicles are properly maintained, drivers comply with regulations and schedules, and transport operations are carried out efficiently and cost-effectively.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Distribution / Logistics Manager, the Fleet Controller must manage and oversee the operations of a fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are used efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively. This role is critical in logistics, transportation, delivery services, and other industries that rely on vehicle fleets.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS :

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

• Scheduling, dispatching, and monitoring fleet movements to ensure timely deliveries and collections.
• Tracking vehicles using GPS and telematics systems to monitor routes, driver behaviour, fuel consumption, and delivery status.
• Communicating with drivers throughout their shifts to handle delays, route changes, or issues.
• Acting as a central point of communication between drivers, management, and clients.
• Ensuring drivers adhere to legal and safety standards, including hours of service, road safety rules, and internal policies.
• Monitoring vehicle maintenance schedules and coordinating service, repairs, and licensing to ensure roadworthiness and compliance.
• Maintaining accurate records of fleet performance, incidents, fuel usage, and maintenance.
• Handling breakdowns, accidents, and emergencies promptly and effectively.
• Reporting on fleet performance, costs, downtime, and recommending improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce operational costs.
• Supporting recruitment, training, and performance management of drivers as needed.
• Ensuring all transport documentation is complete and compliant with company and legal standards.
• This is an office-based role with frequent communication with drivers on the road.
• Performing any other duties as required by operations.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
• A relevant qualification in Logistics, Transport Management, or a related field (advantageous).
• Minimum 2–4 years' experience in fleet control, dispatch, or logistics operations.
• Knowledge of fleet management systems and vehicle tracking technology.
• Sound understanding of transport legislation, safety standards, and operational procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
• Computer literacy (MS Office, especially Excel, and fleet systems).

• Internal: Sales and Operations Managers, Converting Management Team, Safety and Risk Personnel (SHEQ), Admin and Financial Departments, Human Resources, Buying and Training Departments.
