• Run and sustain the Telecoms, Network, Security infrastructure (Infrastructure, Processes and Interfaces) in South Africa.
• Be responsible for the Hardware Infrastructure, Network Software, Tools Servers, Asset Management and Security Management.
• Manage cellular communications contracts execution, device deployment and lifecycle management.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Deploy and manage Cisco ACI fabrics, including APIC, leaf, and spine configurations
• Design and implement policies, EPGs, bridge domains, and contracts
• Troubleshoot network issues across L2/L3 and VXLAN overlays
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application-centric deployments
• Maintain documentation and contribute to automation efforts using Python, Ansible, or similar tools
• Stay current with ACI best practices and evolving technologies

• 3–5 years of hands-on networking experience
• Solid understanding of Cisco ACI architecture and components
• Strong grasp of VLANs, VRFs, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and VXLAN
• Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, OpenStack) and cloud integrations is a plus
• Experience with network automation and scripting is highly desirable

Network Engineer position available in Cape Town

We’re hiring a Network Engineer to design and manage advanced networking solutions that support large-scale, autonomous applications.

The role involves building networks in complex environments, supporting projects across multiple regions, and working with both wired and wireless technologies.

Location: Century City, Cape Town – Onsite.

Salary: R720,000 – R960,000 CTC per annum.

• Design and implement enterprise networks, including wired (Cisco/UBNT) and private wireless/5G/LTE.
• Configure and support user equipment and networking hardware.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd line support, ensuring systems meet SLA standards.
• Develop processes, documentation, and automated reports on network performance.

About the Role

The Network Engineer will work closely with CISO to continually uplift and develop our network capability to ensure continual secure and uninterrupted communication within the organisation and with our fleet of Bluebottle USVs.

The ITServices team is responsible for the Ocius’s day-to-day IT support and network capability. The team are instrumental in ensuring the wider company can function, including ensuring our Bluebottle platforms can function effectively at sea

What You'll Do

Design modern LAN and WAN networks with integrated security.

Deploy and maintain networksusing Infrastructure as Code.

Maintain legacy network infrastructure at Ocius and client locations.

Provide end-to-end network engineering support, from planning and estimating through to post-deployment assistance.

Develop and refine technical documentation for network design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.

Attend and contribute to meetings with clients and stakeholders as required.

Maintain compliance with Ocius policies and best practices in all network-related work.

Selection Criteria

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (or related) or equivalent TAFE qualifications with experience.

Proven experience designing and implementing complex networks, ideally using infrastructure as code.

Experience working with virtual infrastructure (cloud or on-premise).

Experience working with remote sites or unreliableconnections, including 4G/5G, satellite and mesh radio systems.

Ability to create clear and concise technical documentation for existing and new networks.

Familiarity with network security best practice, ideally in a defence setting.

• Review client requirements and collaborate with other IT engineers to define the optimal networking and firewalling solutions in accordance with organisational policies.
• Design and implement new network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of current networks.
