Duties and Responsibilities
  • Key duties include working together with the CFO to assist in the development, implementing and the execution of the HSRC's financial strategy, managing budgets and forecasting, including the overseeing of the total financial reporting, financial risk management, and ensuring tax and regulatory compliance as well as building investor relationships. As a Director: Finance, the role also entails leading the finance team, providing strategic insights to guide business decisions and drive financial sustainability.Financial and managerial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Manage the overall financial management and accounting functions of the HSRC including entails debtor's management, creditors management, cash management, assets management, projects office and compliance with relevant legislation, accounting principles and HSRC policies.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking for a highly experienced and strategic Finance Director. The ideal candidate should excel in strong financial leadership experience, and advanced analytical and tech skills to drive performance, compliance, and innovation in a fast-paced, international environment. Our Finance Director will be based in Johannesburg & Pretoria.

  • Knowledge or understanding of local tax requirement (direct and indirect tax).

  • Able to report and explain financial results to local and regional management.

  • Strong IT skills and must be an effective communicator.

  • Demonstrated mastery and a very high proficiency in business and data analysis, including:

    • Exceptional competency in using advanced features of Excel and Power BI.
  • Experience with ERP's such as Syspro, Acumatica and MS Dynamics 365 will be advantageous.

  • Professional demeanour with high degree of comfort speaking with Senior Management.

  • Fluency in English, both in written and verbal communication.

The key responsibilities:

Strategy, Planning and Management:

  • Act as Financial Director and strategic business partner to senior executive leadership team (Group & subsidiary).
  • Assess and evaluate financial performance of organization with regard to Preparation of robust and reliable cash forecasts.
  • Preliminary analytical review for discussion with MD's/Department Managers incl. variance against budget and latest forecast.
  • Give the support to the implementation systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information.
  • Communicate, engage and interact with local Board of Directors, departments and Group Management Team.
  • Recruit, interview and hire finance, accounting, payroll, other support/centralised functions staff as required.

Accounting, General Ledger, Administration & Operations:

  • Responsibility for the current month's forecast, interim forecasts and annual budgets using appropriate tools to track performance to forecast and ensure a 'no surprises' environment.
  • A rooted understanding of the business' performance drivers gained through trend analysis, active participation in operational matters and engaging with business partners (including Sales and Operational Managers) to identify root causes and countermeasures for performance variances.
  • Prepared to challenge performance across each function including sales and operational through use of applied KPI metrics.
  • Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases and financial software. Provide regular maintenance and backup of all accounting systems and supervise company financial staff.
  • Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, compliance and financial procedures.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data.
  • Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly and annual financial statements.

We are looking for a proactive Finance Director to own, manage, and oversee the financial operations of the business. You will lead a small finance team and work closely with senior management to ensure the financial health and stability of the company. Core responsibilities include budgeting, cash flow forecasting, project costing, managing work in progress (WIP), transfer pricing, and ensuring compliance with global financial standards.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Develop and manage the company's budgeting process, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Prepare accurate and timely cash flow forecasts to maintain strong liquidity.
  • Analyze financial performance against key metrics and provide actionable insights to management.

Project Costing & Work in Progress (WIP)

  • Partner with delivery teams to cost projects accurately, ensuring margins are optimized.
  • Monitor and manage WIP, ensuring projects are accounted for and invoiced promptly.
  • Implement robust financial controls over project costing and WIP.

Transfer Pricing & Tax Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations, including documentation and Intercompany transactions.
  • Oversee and support the preparation of
    US federal and state tax returns
    , ensuring compliance and accuracy.

Financial Reporting & Auditing

  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to management with clear variance analysis.
  • Oversee the preparation of statutory financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Work closely with UK and US auditors
    , assisting with audit requirements, and ensuring adherence to both UK and US auditing regulations.

Payroll

  • Oversee
    US payroll processes
    , ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submissions.

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and financial information is delivered to a high standard.

Collaboration with Management

  • Partner with the MD, CMO, and wider leadership team to develop and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making and growth.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes and systems, driving efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay current with industry trends, tax regulations, and best practices.

Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

  • US Payroll management experience
    .
  • Strong knowledge of UK & US auditing regulations
    and ability to assist auditors effectively.
  • Hands-on experience with transfer pricing compliance and documentation

  • Preparation and oversight of US federal and state tax returns

Qualifications

  • Professional accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA).

  • Experience within global Media, Marketing, or Communications industries preferred.
