Job Overview:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced
Truck Diesel Mechanic
to join our team in Rustenburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of heavy-duty trucks, ensuring all vehicles are safe, reliable, and operating efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel trucks and related components.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Conduct engine overhauls, brake system repairs, clutch replacements, and gearbox maintenance.
  • Ensure all repairs are completed to manufacturer and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
  • Assist with breakdowns and roadside repairs when required.
  • Report faults and required parts to the Workshop Supervisor/Foreman.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Red Seal Trade Test Qualification
    (Diesel Mechanic essential).
  • Valid Driver's License
    (Code EC or higher preferred).
  • Minimum
    3–5 years' experience
    working on heavy-duty trucks (Volvo, Scania, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, and braking systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Physically fit and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to work overtime, standby, and attend breakdowns if required.

The main purpose of the job is to provide technical and diagnostic expertise within the service department and in doing so, advice colleagues on best practice methodologies for repairs and improvements as per customer requirements.

  • To draft and prepare any reports required
  • Ensure effective communication with staff, across departments, with customers and service providers
  • Willingness to participate in marketing campaigns when required for the furtherance of the business.
  • IMPORTANT – Standby and the responsibility thereto is a compulsory function of this position and no relaxation on this will be accepted.
Qualifications and Experience

Minimum requirement:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working as a Diesel Technician on commercial vehicles.
