About the Role

Boston South Africa is seeking a highly experienced
Senior Solution Design and Implementation Engineer

to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. The ideal candidate will be based in either
Cape Town

Function Introduction

A Senior Solutions and Implementation Engineer functions as a supervisor / manager for Junior FAE staff, as well as fulfilling a similar technical/support resource for sales, marketing, design, research and development activities. Functions will be office based and at customer / installation sites.

A Senior Solutions and Implementation Engineer will work alongside junior colleagues (or individually) and provide assistance, guidance and a mentor for junior FAEs. A Senior FAE will work under the supervision of one or more department heads, carrying out the tasks delegated to them and may also, in turn, delegate work to their direct subordinates.

General responsibilities (including but not limited to)

·   Initiate, facilitate and drive various business problem-solving and process re-engineering projects in collaboration with clients

·   Forming new or innovative designs, making prototypes and demonstrating the application to existing and potential users

·   Be involved in generating / managing leads on technical requirements from various sources and dealing with potential customers

·   Supporting in customized product / equipment design & developments for customers, providing technical assistance for the same and doing requirements' analysis

·   Assisting with internal and external education and knowledge transfer involving both internal employees and external partners

·   Management and monitoring of junior staff (e.g. Junior FAEs), such as

·   Mentoring, educating and assisting with delegated tasks

·   Scheduled work and performance reviews

·   Assisting with time management and prioritisation

·   Dealing with issues and addressing concerns of Junior FAEs

Skills and experience

Senior Solution and Implementation Engineers need a wide range of skills and a good technology base to work from. Because field applications engineers provide technical support, sometimes they must give technical presentations and other times they must actually create or modify designs.

They must also be familiar with technical product specifications and be able to point out the specific technical merits of one product over another and do so convincingly.

Good customer relation skills are very important. Because customers want to be assured that the technology is reliable, the field applications engineer must be able to back up technical claims. This often requires that the field applications engineer prepares and presents computer simulations, engineering calculations, research papers, data sheets and company-competitor report as and when needed.

Preferred Skills

·   Field experience or hands-on practice or knowledge of multi-disciplinary server systems

·   Prior experience working with Supermicro based server solutions and/or other Boston focused products – NVIDIA AI, Mellanox Networking)

·   A broad knowledge of Windows Server and Linux based operating systems

·   A clean, detailed and clear documentation practitioner
