Course description : This course is designed and delivered by industry experts from the Software/Tech fields. Students will work with teammates from CSC454H1 to develop a marketable startup on a selected theme. The class will be small and highly interactive. You will work to develop working software industry best practices. You are expected to have experience writing software and be able to learn on the go.



Estimated TA support : one 60-hour TA position for every 30 students

  • Providing appropriate contact time outside of class to students, through office hours, email, the course website and/or the course bulletin board.
  • Preparing the breakdown of hours for TA duties in the course and supervising the TAs.
  • Ensuring that tutorials and/or labs are delivered appropriately by the TAs as applicable.
  • Managing the grading for the course, which is largely done by the TAs, and carrying out any grading not handled by the TAs.
  • Invigilating term tests and the final exam when applicable.
  • Managing the grades, including the timely completion and release of grades and feedback to students throughout the term; submitting final course grades (due May 8, 2026).

While there is a lot of room for creativity in course delivery, instructors will be expected to follow the basic content and style used by the faculty members who normally teach the course, and must get approval from these faculty members or from the Associate Chair for any substantial changes to the course content or assessment methods. Instructors will also be expected to consult with the department’s Teaching Support group when creating the course syllabus and course assessments (tests, assignments, projects, and final exam)

Responsible for multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative original solutions where results are key to successful completion of major projects. Education: Professional Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (B. Eng) , or Technology or Science Bachelor’s Degree and Honours (B. Tech Hons, B. Sc. Hons, or B. Eng Tech Hons) Experience: Minimum 3 years of post-graduate experience within the Consulting Engineering field. Professional Status: Registration as a Professional Engineer or a Professional Engineering Technologist preferred. (Exceptional applicants registered as Candidate Engineers or Candidate Engineering Technologists may be considered – eligible for professional registration within 1 year of employment.) Main Responsibilities: Electrical Reticulation and Building Services Design: Fully develop designs and prepare technical documentation for electrical reticulation systems and building services. Managing Projects through all ECSA Stages: Oversee projects from inception to close-out, ensuring compliance with ECSA's prescribed stages and standards. Task-Based Services: Conduct feasibility studies, audits, and other specialised assessments as required. Project Management: Plan, execute, and monitor electrical engineering projects ensuring they are completed on time, within scope and budget. Contract Management: Administer contracts in accordance with Condition of Contract frameworks such as FIDIC and JBCC. Compliance with OHS Act and Construction Regulations: Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements during project execution. Technical and Software Proficiency: Use tools like Dig Silent Power Factory, Bentley Micro Station, Power Office, Powa Master, Retic Master, Relux for drafting, analysis, and design. Client Interaction and Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and meeting targets. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed reports, maintain records, and provide progress updates to clients and stakeholders. Business Development: Identify new opportunities and develop relationships with potential clients. Prepare proposals, presentations, and bid documentation to secure new projects. Work as part of the team to align business development strategies with organisational goals. Other Requirements: Own vehicle, Valid Drivers Licence, Willing to travel to site. Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Technical Project Manager to oversee and support the team in the design and production of bespoke museum exhibitions and interactive displays. The role involves providing support in managing the entire lifecycle of custom-built projects, integrating advanced AV technology, such as touchscreens, sensors, and electronics, and coordinating diverse fabrication processes including carpentry, metalwork, 3D printing, and model making.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee and manage the design and production of custom-built museum exhibits and interactive displays by providing planning and management support to the team.

  2. Coordinate and interface with Procurement, Finance and Support Departments
  3. Compile and manage supplier contracts
  4. Supplier communication and progress tracking
  5. Create project reports for management review
  6. Build and manage project plans on Monday.com
  7. Team support (resources, software, tools etc)
  8. Client Site coordination (manage information for integration)

  9. Project scope control & budget alignment
  10. Project lifecycle and documentation management
  11. Facilitate clear and effective communication between the production team, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  12. Directly report to head of department and senior project managers and maintain direct communication with clients.
  13. Manage project handover stages, ensuring all Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to.
  14. Monitor and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and exceed client quality expectations.
  15. Manage compliance with industry regulations, building codes, and safety standards in all aspects of exhibit production throughout process.
Qualifications:
  1. A background in design for manufacture, especially in the furniture and retail POP industries.
  2. Proven experience in project management, particularly in design and fabrication of custom-built products. (Relevant project management qualification would be an advantage. )
  3. Ability to review and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  4. Familiarity with various fabrication processes, including carpentry, metalwork, 3D printing, and model making.
  5. Exceptional coordination and management skills for handling subcontractors and diverse project teams.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with suppliers and clients.
  7. Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.
  8. Experience in exhibit design, fabrication, and installation an advantage.
  9. Knowledge of structural engineering principles, materials science, production, and manufacturing processes an advantage
