To provide coordination and support to the Curriculum Department by assisting with the various processes associated with new programme development, short learning programme development, professional body accreditation and responses to regulatory bodies within the department to ensure that MANCOSA meets its strategic objectives and goals.

CORE FUNCTIONS INCLUDE
  1. Track documents as per New Programme Development processes
  2. Efficiently schedule and coordinate meetings and interviews as and when required
  3. Ensure new programme development is completed as per regulatory and institutional standards
  4. Sourcing of programme developers, programme reviewers, and short learning programme developers timeously to ensure deadlines are met
  5. Liaise with programme developers regarding revisions and/or amendments to new programme submission documents
  6. Submit new programmes as per the stipulated deadline
  7. Ensure alignment of new programme development with the institution’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives
  8. Compile and coordinate narratives and supporting evidence for new programme development
  9. Coordinate the development of responses to conditions and/or representations (where applicable) when feedback is received from the respective regulator
  10. Coordinate the development and review of Short Learning Programmes ensuring alignment with the institution’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives
  11. Ensure professional body accreditation, endorsement, MOU, or maintenance is complete as per the guidelines provided
  12. Submit professional body applications as per the stipulated deadline
  13. Ensure alignment of professional body with the identified existing programme
  14. Compile and manage narratives and supporting evidence for professional body applications
  15. Participation in regulatory body activities

Job Description

Department: CALTSTEAM, Centre for Advanced Learning Technologies in STEAM, within the Department of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (MSTEd). This post is supported by the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP). The nGAP recruits a new cohort of young academics and provides teaching and research development opportunities; incumbents are required to register for a PhD or post-doctoral studies. Departmental Synopsis

The Department of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (MSTEd) is an academic department within the Faculty of Education. Core functions include teaching, training and research. MSTEd is located on the Auckland Park Campus. The Centre for Advanced Learning Technologies in STEAM (CALTSTEAM) conducts cutting-edge research in advanced learning technologies including VR/AR, AI, ML, robotics and coding in STEAM education, supporting UJ’s leadership in 4IR education research. CALTSTEAM invites applications for a Lecturer position supported by nGAP. Designated candidates are prioritised; candidates must be 40 years or younger and are expected to register for PhD or post-doctoral studies.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to existing CALTSTEAM research projects and lead new projects in advanced learning technologies within STEAM education.
  • Administrative duties, teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate modules, and supervision of postgraduate students.
  • Register for the PhD degree if not already held and achieve a minimum of 70% in the Master’s.
  • Establish a research niche, publish in internationally peer-reviewed journals, and participate inCentre activities.

  • The curriculum development of and lecturing of modules in the programme(s) based in the department;
  • In addition, the incumbent will pursue research activities such as own research, research-based publications and the supervision of postgraduate students registered in the department;
  • Developing, presenting and coordinating undergraduate and postgraduate courses for pre-service and in-service teachers and other students for contact and distance presentation;

  • At least six (6) accredited publications (journals, book chapters, Books) of which 4 should be in a mix of internationally and nationally accredited journals, 1 publication should be sole-authored and evidence of conference papers;
  • At least 3 students supervised to completion at Masters level;
  • Evidence of Community engagement in a related field. Work-integrated involvement/ mentorship;
  • Experience in academic administration and participation in departmental/faculty committees.

  • Offering IsiNdebele Language Education and Academic Literacy programmes in the B.Ed., HCSS and PGCE qualifications;
  • Providing postgraduate supervision in IsiNdebele Language Education and Language Literacy;
  • Assisting with the assessment of WIL;
  • Course and curriculum development in IsiNdebele Language Education and Academic Literacy;
  • Teaching IsiNdebele Language Education and Academic Literacy in a hybrid environment;
  • Conducting research in the focus areas of the Department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masters degree in IsiNdebele Language Education or a related field;
  • 1 – 3 Years experience in teaching IsiNdebele Language Education;
  • Evidence of some research experience;
  • Evidence of some experience in community engagement;
  • Evidence of some academic citizenship.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and providing academic support to undergraduate and honours students, facilitating the scholarship application and selection processes, and ensuring a supportive environment that promotes student success and academic excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Academic Support
  • Provide academic support and advising to students on scholarships.
  • Assist students with course selection, academic planning, and research opportunities.
  • Collaborate with faculty academic advisors and faculty mentors, and monitor academic progress and performance of students on scholarships.
  • Student Support
  • Collaborate with the Program team to organise workshops, information-sharing sessions, and outreach activities to promote and ensure an environment that enables scholars to succeed and complete their studies within minimum time.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for undergraduate and Honours students seeking information and assistance regarding scholarship.
  • Support activities related to Scholar Representatives and assist in facilitating programmes.
  • Liaise with the Program Psychologist, Entrepreneurship/Community Engagement Coordinator, Program Manager for appropriate support for the Scholars.
  • Data Management and reporting
  • Maintain accurate records and data of students' interactions, academic progress using the Anthology Reach, and generate regular reports
  • Recommend interventions needed for improvement based on Scholars' progress.
  • Recruitment and Application Process Coordination
  • Participate in the recruitment process and promotion of the scholarship though building relationships with high schools and relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the application process for the scholarship with the Senior Recruitment and Liaison Officer and the Program team.
  • Ensure that the recruitment for prospective students is accessible to and inclusive of a targeted student profile (females, refugees, Internally Displaced Persons, and youth with disabilities.)
  • Selection and On-boarding
  • Engage professionally with Scholars' concerns in a supportive, caring, fair and transparent manner.
  • Collaborate with Program team to identify prospective students, organise selection committees, coordinate review meetings, and ensure adherence to selection criteria.
  • Participate in the planning, onboarding and orientations of new Scholars, and provide assistance with adhoc requests by the Senior Manager and Program Manager.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Counselling, Student Affairs) with at least five years of work experience in the following:
  • Academic Support
