Role Description:
Dr. Nyathi’s Dental Practice is looking for a passionate and skilled Oral Hygienist to join our growing team. This is a full-time role with the primary location in Leandra, Mpumalanga. Travel between Leandra and Johannesburg North will be required.
As an Oral Hygienist, your primary responsibility will be to perform dental prophylaxis (scaling and polishing), educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, and work alongside our dentist to deliver exceptional care. You will also be responsible for examining patients for signs of periodontal disease, taking and developing dental radiographs, and maintaining accurate patient records. An added bonus if you have experience in Orthodontics! You’ll enjoy working in a state-of-the-art clinic with a supportive team dedicated to patient-centred care.
Qualifications:
- HPCSA registration as a Dental Hygienist
- Proficiency in dental prophylaxis, including scaling and polishing
- Experience in diagnosing and treating periodontal disease
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- A degree or diploma in Dental Hygiene
- Bonus: Experience in orthodontics is a plus!

Currently, you will join a healthcare organization with a staff of 11 providers at four locations, delivering primary medical, dental, and behavioral health care to over 5,500 patients. - Participate in implementing dental services at the Community Health Center and practice dental hygiene clinically.
- Integrate oral health care into the comprehensive, team-based care delivery system within the CHC and community.
- Provide direct patient care, including periodontal scaling and root planning, maintenance procedures, prophylaxis, screenings, radiographs, sealant and fluoride applications, anesthetic delivery, oral cancer screenings, hygiene education, and oral evaluations and counseling with primary caregivers of children under three.
- Make appropriate referrals to outside dental providers for comprehensive care beyond your scope.
- Provide feedback and insights to help Northwest Colorado Health improve continuously.

The Position
We’re looking for a team member who has a team-oriented disposition, a growth mindset, and excellent communication skills to add to our practice. This team member should have an active BLS certification and a Texas Registered Dental Hygienist license.
This position will:
- Prepare the patient for their dental appointment by warm welcome and ensure they are comfortable throughout their visit.
- Review patients’ health history and promote dental health by completing dental prophylaxis and teaching appropriate oral hygiene techniques.
- Be an advocate for the patient by helping them through their fears, anxiety, and discomfort.

Practice Location

- Thursday- 7:00am-6:00pm
- Friday- 8:00am-1:00pm
