is seeking an experienced live-in carer on behalf of our elderly client.
ABOUT OUR CLIENT AND THE POSITION
We're looking for a compassionate, reliable
live-in Carer
to join a small, supportive rota caring for an
88-year-old gentleman living with advancing dementia
. This role suits someone steady, safety-minded, and great at communicating. There is a shared care arrangement where two carers work on a rotational schedule:
- Week 1:
Carer A works 4 days, Carer B works 3 days - Week 2:
Roles reverse - Carer A works 3 days, Carer B works 4 days
Schedule:
Live-in basis with specific rotation periods and two consecutive days off per week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Care Duties:
- 24-hour supervision and fall risk management
- Medication supervision and administration (strict protocols in place)
- Personal care and hygiene maintenance
- Mobility support and driving to appointments/errands
- Workshop supervision for safety during activities
- Financial safeguarding and cash book maintenance
- Daily communication and incident reporting
Specialised Dementia Care:
- Supporting a patient with significantly progressing cognitive impairment
- Preventing high-risk activities (e.g. operation of certain workshop machinery & tools)
- Managing behavioural changes and routine disruptions
- Maintaining security protocols and visitor supervision
Additional Responsibilities:
- Client work request co-ordination
- Household expense management (pre-approval required)
- Regular exercise facilitation (3x per week)
- Daily WhatsApp reporting to family
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must Have:
- Extensive experience with dementia patients
(non-negotiable) - Valid South African driver's licence
- Ability to work live-in rotational schedule
- Strong communication skills (daily reporting required)
- Physical capability for mobility assistance
- Experience with medication management
Highly Preferred:
- Experience with advanced/severe dementia stages
- Healthcare or nursing background
- Previous live-in care experience
- Knowledge of fall prevention techniques

WORKING CONDITIONS

Overview
Roaring Fork Senior Living, Glenwood Spring's premiere senior living community, is seeking an organized and experienced Memory Care Manager to oversee the Memory Care program. You will be responsible for providing direct supervision of Health Services care associates as well as ensuring resident needs are met within the Assisted Living environment. Ensures residents are treated with respect and dignity, recognizing individual needs and encouraging independence. Fosters a homelike atmosphere throughout the community.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provides direct supervision of Resident Assistants and QMAPs, which includes monitoring job performance, evaluations, hiring, coaching, and counseling associates and assisting with the documented corrective action as needed.
- Ensures all new associates working in Monarch House have completed Orientation Checklist and this is turned in to human resources within 30 days of hire.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining the schedule for all non-licensed clinical team members in memory care.
- Day-to-day responsibility for the Monarch House program; providing oversight to ensure care is delivered in accordance with program standards. This includes conducting daily rounds of the neighborhood.
- Coordinates training and education of resident care staff regarding Monarch House program/activities on an ongoing basis. This includes classroom in-services and situation-specific training.
- Verifies all associate hours in HRIS system prior to payroll.
- Coordinates and assists with Monarch House monthly vital signs clinics.
- Assigns laundry and shower schedules weekly and ensures compliance.
- Monitors QMAPs in administration of medication, to include annual competency completion and performs WEEKLY med cart audits and medication room review/organization.
- Medication management, including administration of medications to residents, ordering medication from pharmacy and maintaining records as dictated in policies and procedures. Assures that medications are properly stored, medication carts/cupboards are cleaned and medication room is organized according to standards.
- Educates QMAPs on medication administration, orders, tagging medications, processing medications, refills from pharmacy and medication destruction which will occur as soon as medication is removed from medication cart.
- Observes resident’s health status, takes actions to address concerns within scope of practice, and reports all significant changes or significant incidences to Wellness Nurse and/or Health Services Director in a timely manner.
- Reviews incident reports for completion daily, if not complete, will ensure completion and will sign off on all Monarch House incident reports.
- Will update resident care plans after falls and as needed.
- Communicates to families regarding resident's personal needs, as requested. Reminds families of need for scheduled physician, dental, podiatry, dermatology, or eye appointments. Will assist in scheduling medical appointments as needed.
- Organizes, schedules and attends care conferences/service plan reviews as required, with appropriate resident care team members and resident families. Updates team on any service plan changes.
- QMAP certification
- Certified dementia practitioner certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years previous leadership experience, preferably in a senior living environment
- Minimum 1 year experience working with adults with Dementia
- Due to the nature of the work performed by Ascent Living Communities, and that this position works with a vulnerable population, we do require a criminal background check be completed
$60,000-$65,000 a year, based on experience
