Our client, a specialist Software Solutions provider, has a remote Data Reporting Specialist role. This position will suit an experienced Data Analyst looking for career development to move into a role with data reporting responsibilities in a niche industry and specialize in data analytics in an innovative and growing business. Good technical skills in Excel, SQL, and Power BI, or an alternate data analysis tool, and previous client-facing experience is an advantage.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent. Preference for Honours level or a 4-year Degree in Data Science or equivalent module. Microsoft Certification in a data-related competency is preferable.
Experience:
2-5 years in Data Analytics in a Business Intelligence environment. Experience in an Agile BI environment and client-facing experience is an advantage. Proficient in data queries, developing reports, interpretation of data, report writing, and presenting findings is preferable. Experience in the non-life insurance industry would be highly advantageous. SQL and BI experience, with Power BI being advantageous.

As a Business Intelligence Developer, you will play a critical role in transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive key business decisions. Using your expertise in data modelling, dashboard and report development, and integration with databases and APIs, you will create intuitive visualizations and reports that empower stakeholders. This role is essential in building a data driven culture and ensuring our teams have the tools and insights needed to achieve their objectives.
What You’ll Be Doing
As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing, deploying, and maintaining business intelligence solutions, including dashboards and reports.
- Creating and optimizing data models to support reporting and visualization needs.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable insights.
- Working with data engineers to integrate data from various sources into the business intelligence data models.
- Ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and quality in all reporting outputs.
- Automating data extraction, transformation, and reporting processes where feasible.

Essential Skills You’ll Bring To The Table
The necessary skills that we require for this role include:
- Undergraduate degree with majors in Information Systems / Mathematics / Statistics / Engineering, Finance or similar. Alternatively, at least 3 years' work experience in a business intelligence / engineering role will be considered. A relevant post-graduate degree will be a strong plus.
- 3+ years’ experience in business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong understanding of data modelling and database querying using SQL.
- Experience developing dashboards, reports and visualizations for business insights.
- Ability to gather and translate stakeholder requirements into technical solutions.
- Familiarity with ETL processes and data integration techniques.
- Experience working with large datasets and optimizing performance in business intelligence tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high standards of quality in all outputs

- Relevant certifications in business intelligence tools or platforms (e.g. Microsoft Power BI Professional).
- Background in financial or operational reporting.
