Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and meticulous Lead Data Architect to spearhead client strategic engagement, design, proposal, and implementation of robust and scalable data solutions for our diverse client base. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise in data architecture, a keen eye for detail, and an innovative approach to problem-solving. The Lead Data Architect will be instrumental in defining our data landscape, ensuring high-quality technical delivery, and guiding our engineering efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Architectural Design & Implementation: Design, propose, and oversee the implementation of enterprise-level data architectures, including data warehouses (Kimball methodologies), data lakes (Medallion architecture), data governance processes, master data solutions and modern data platforms (Azure, Microsoft Fabric).

  • Technical Leadership & Guidance: Provide senior technical guidance to implementation teams, ensuring adherence to best practices, high-quality code, and scalable solutions.

  • Technical Estimation & Scoping: Develop accurate and detailed proposal documents of varying complexity along with the requisite accurate effort estimations for technical delivery.

  • Documentation & Visualization: Create clear, comprehensive, and high-quality architectural diagrams, technical specifications, and discovery workshop documentation. Develop consistency within this arena to streamline service offerings and provide an exceptional client experience.

  • Technology Evaluation & Recommendation: Research, evaluate, and recommend cutting-edge data technologies and tools to enhance our service offerings and client solutions.

  • Quality Assurance: Champion a culture of high-quality technical delivery to ensure robust and maintainable data solutions.

  • Innovation: Actively seek out-of-the-box solutions and creative approaches to complex data challenges, fostering a forward-thinking technical environment.

  • Meaningful Client Engagements: Engage with clients and build meaningful relationships to support the sales process as well as successfully eliciting requirements for varying requirements based on client needs.

  • Strategic Vision: Capacity to consult with clients at a strategic level to develop an enterprise roadmap whilst incorporating technical architecture to support varying outcomes.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of hands-on experience in data architecture

  • 5 – 8 years solid experience in data and analytics, data modelling, data engineering, reporting, data management and data governance

  • Proven consulting experience of between 2 – 4 years delivering commercial proposals covering simple through to complex client requirements and project sizes

  • A strong portfolio of successfully delivered enterprise-level data solutions.

Technical Acumen:

  • Deep expertise in Data Warehousing (Kimball Methodology) and Data Lake (Medallion Architecture) principles and implementation.

  • Extensive practical experience with Azure data services and Microsoft Fabric .

  • Proficiency in designing and implementing complex data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.

  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Exceptional analytical skills with a proven ability to think creatively and solve complex technical problems.

Attention to Detail:

  • Meticulous attention to detail in design, client presentations, documentation, and implementation.

Communication:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent

  • Experience with other cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) is a plus.

Experience and Skills

  • Qualifications & Experience: Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in data governance, data management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA).
  • Experience with data governance tools.
  • Knowledge of data protection laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
  • Experience working in or with international teams, particularly across EMEA and APAC regions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage clearly and effectively at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
  • Familiarity with data architecture, data modelling, and data lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to work across multiple jurisdictions and cultures, adapting communication and governance approaches accordingly.
  • Skilled in facilitating workshops and chairing data governance forums, ensuring productive and inclusive discussions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with various stakeholders to analyze data requirements, develop data models, and ensure the integrity and security of our data infrastructure.
  • Accountable for defining how the data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities and IT systems, as well as any applications using or processing that data in some way.
  • Supports the creation of a data governance framework to meet business and technology requirements while ensuring data security and compliance with regulations, and ensure it is integrated in relevant processes across the organization.
  • Works across multiple teams for the optimization of data storage and retrieval, enhance data quality and governance, and guides the organization in making informed data-driven decisions.
  • Accountable for translating business requirements into databases, data warehouses, and data streams, collaborates with other teams and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and designs appropriate data models and structures.
  • Designs and implements data integration and data flow processes to ensure efficient data movement across different systems and platforms.
  • Analyzes, plans, and defines data architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata, and master data.
  • Accountable for defining and implementing data governance policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
  • Works across multiple teams for the planning and facilitation of data governance communities, workshops, and meetings.
  • Analyzes existing data systems and identifies opportunities for improvement, recommending innovative solutions to enhance data management and analytics capabilities.
  • Accountable for defining and maintaining data standards, data definitions, and data dictionaries to ensure consistency and interoperability.
  • Works across multiple teams for the definition of technical standards and guidelines that pertain to data and information use, security, access and governance (including defining accountabilities in support of data quality mandates).
  • Creates diagrams showing key data entities and creates an inventory of the data needed to implement the architecture vision.
Knowledge and Attributes:
  • Seasoned understanding of data governance, data integration, data quality, data lifecycle processes and data management best practices, and how these impacts business performance.
  • Enterprise-wide view of the business and strong appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance.
  • Seasoned in preparing, facilitating, and driving forums, communities, workshops, and meetings with people across various levels of the organization.
  • A capable change agent and communicator knowing how to demonstrate the value of data governance, create organizational buy-in and get the organization to understand data governance.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members, contributing to their success.
  • Ability to build relationships, manage business partners and navigate with ease at all levels of the organization from senior management to specialists.
  • Seasoned in developing communication and training materials and training people in Data Governance.
  • Good understanding of IT domains of information, security, application, technology infrastructure and integration
  • Problem-solving and analytical capabilities to safeguard data integrity, security, and organization
  • Good understanding of data security and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and experience implementing data protection measures.
  • Good understanding of data modelling techniques, data warehousing concepts, and database management systems.
  • Seasoned in SQL and experience with database development and performance optimization.
  • Seasoned in data visualization tools and techniques
Academic Qualifications and Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in either Information Systems or Computer Science or a related field.
  • Certifications in data management or related areas (e.g., DAMA Certified Data Management Professional) preferred.
Required experience:
  • Seasoned experience working as a Data Governance Specialist or in a similar role.
  • Seasoned experience in developing and implementing data governance strategies, frameworks, and operating models.
  • Seasoned experience in developing training materials, conducting data governance workshops, and facilitating knowledge sharing sessions.
  • Seasoned experience with data management tools and technologies.
  • Seasoned experience in developing data governance frameworks, data dictionaries, data classification schemes, and data standards is desirable.
  • Seasoned experience in ensuring data governance practices align with regulatory guidelines and managing compliance audits.
