Who’s who in the tech space
This position reports to the Product Lead: Data & Machine Learning
Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
- Create and facilitate the delivery of one or more of Takealot Group’s key focus areas:
- Data monetisation
- Data governance
- You will work closely with product and engineering to ensure we collect the right data to produce relevant business insights.
- You will own all event mechanisms across the Takealot Group, namely GA4 and a proprietary event tracking system. This, for instance, includes creating and enforcing event naming standardisation, monitoring event emissions and alerting on significant drops, and deeply understanding user event payload content to suggest improvements and refinement.
- You will work closely with the commercial head of Data Monetisation to create data products and unlock revenue opportunities.
- You will project manage 3rd party data integrations as enrichment layers to existing and future data products.
- You will be responsible for sharing data with 3rd parties. This includes making current processes more streamlined while at the same time ensuring adherence to data governance requirements.
- You will work hand-in-hand with data teams to configure and define how data can be easily discoverable by end users using an existing discovery tool.
- You will work hand-in-hand with data teams to implement any audit findings around data governance and user privacy.
- You will ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations while monetising data products.
- You will work hand-in-hand with a range of data teams: data engineering (data collection), analytical engineering (data marts/models), and business intelligence (dashboarding/reporting) in driving end-to-end data products across the key focus areas.
- You will work closely with relevant business units to identify opportunities for driving meaningful business results through data solutions and then work with stakeholders to prioritize projects for roadmap inclusion.
- Becoming an effective evangelist of data within the business vertical you serve, helping stakeholders understand the capabilities and potential value of data.
- Balance longer-term product vision and goals with short-term wins.
Attributes Required:
- Ability to distill technical subjects to their fundamental concepts to facilitate the effective exchange of ideas between business stakeholders and software development teams.
- Strong commercial acumen for understanding the factors driving business success in a fast-paced e-commerce environment.
- Be comfortable with data deep-diving, individually and collaboratively, to generate product-level insights.
- Being proactive in exploring your problem space and surroundings, in support of the product vision and roadmap of your team.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to reduce uncertainty and set actionable deliverables.
- Has a drive to actively unlearn and relearn mental models for as long as there is supporting data.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 9+ years of related and transferable experience or 5+ years of product management experience.
- Experience leading and executing cross-functional projects, preferably in high-traffic environments.
- Familiarity and proficiency with agile methods and tools to support project management in a timeline-sensitive environment.
- High accountability when it comes to meeting deadlines and shipping dates.
- Preferably, a proven track record in delivering data products and subsequent maturing iterations at scale.
- A solid understanding of data engineering and analytics fundamentals, allowing you to understand and earn the respect of experienced data engineers.
- Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL and BigQuery or a similar technology, preferably in a high-load environment.
- Experience with Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel at an advanced level.
- Qualifications:
- Preferably a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Science, Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, or Computer Science. If you don’t have a relevant qualification, equivalent experience is required.

As the Technical Manager – Data Services, you will be a key member of our technical team, responsible for overseeing, designing, developing, implementing, maintaining and supporting Epson’s database solutions, leveraging SQL Server, Fabric, PowerApps and the Microsoft Power Platform. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities to ensure high availability, security, scalability, and efficient operation of database platforms.
What You Will Do
Database Design and Management:
- Design, implement, and manage SQL Server databases to support business operations and applications.
- Develop database schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, and functions to meet business requirements.
- Implement ETL processes to integrate data from multiple sources into SQL Server databases.
- Develop data migration scripts and workflows to facilitate seamless data transfer and transformation.
- Design and develop PowerApps applications to automate business processes, streamline workflows, and improve productivity.
- Customize and extend PowerApps using Power Platform connectors, formulas, and expressions.
- Utilize the Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents) to build end-to-end solutions that leverage data analytics, automation, and AI-driven insights.
- Integrate Power Platform solutions with existing systems and applications to enhance functionality and usability.
- Develop custom solutions and applications using Microsoft technologies, including .NET, C#, and JavaScript.

- Identify and address defects, bugs, and performance issues through debugging and troubleshooting.

- Provide training and support to team members on SQL, PowerApps, and Power Platform development best practices.
- Design, develop, and optimize Power BI semantic models, including data modeling, relationships, and DAX calculations, to ensure efficient and accurate data analysis.
- Build and maintain data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, including Dataflows Gen2, Data Factory, and other relevant Fabric components, to ingest, transform, and load data into the semantic model.
- Utilize SQL for data querying, manipulation, and transformation within the Fabric environment, including working with SQL databases and Synapse Data Warehouse.
- Create interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports using Power BI, incorporating data from the semantic model and other relevant sources.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data analysts, and other team members to gather requirements, communicate insights, and ensure the successful delivery of data solutions.
- Optimize the performance of Power BI reports, semantic models, and data pipelines to ensure efficient and scalable solutions.
- Implement and maintain data governance and security practices to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance.
- Manage and maintain the Fabric environment, including configuring compute, storage, and other resources, while also monitoring performance and troubleshooting issues.
- Keep up to date with the latest features and updates in Power BI, Fabric, and related technologies, and recommend best practices for their implementation.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in cloud architecture and implementation, preferably with AWS
- 3+ years of database (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Kinesis) experience

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in cloud architecture and implementation, preferably with AWS
- 3+ years of database (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Kinesis) experience
- 3+ Experience delivering cloud projects or cloud based solutions
- Able to communicate effectively in English, within technical and business settings
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field
- 3+ years of external or internal customer facing, complex and large scale project management experience
- Proficiency in a wide range of AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, CloudFormation)
- Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., Terraform, Python)
- Expertise in performance optimization and cost management for cloud environments
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- AWS Professional level certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional) preferred

Our client is seeking an accomplished and visionary Chief Operating Officer to lead their global technology and data services division. This team delivers data management, analytics, software development, e-commerce, and digital platforms across multiple international business units.
The COO will be responsible for driving the organisation’s technology strategy, overseeing data and product development, and ensuring integration across global operations. This is a senior leadership role with significant influence on business growth, innovation, and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, product managers, data specialists, and designers (approx. 20 staff).
- Develop and implement a group-wide technology and data strategy.
- Oversee integration of software systems across global operations.
- Drive projects in analytics, data science, AI, and software development.
- Ensure compliance with international data protection laws (GDPR, POPIA).
- Collaborate with leadership teams across multiple countries to support digital transformation and operational efficiency.
- Manage technology projects, product development, and e-commerce platforms.
- Identify value-adding, data-driven insights to influence marketing, sales, and business operations.
- Represent the technology division at executive level and report to group leadership.
- Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years’ experience across data, analytics, data science, engineering, or software development.
- Proven leadership and people management experience.
- Strong knowledge of BI and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Google Analytics).
- Proficiency with data science tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, pandas).
- Experience in building data strategies and delivering AI/data science projects.
- Solid background in software engineering and product development.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
- E-commerce experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
