QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in in Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Biological Sciences or a similar field.

NECESSARY EXPERIENCE & INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in Quality Assurance within the pharmaceutical/ biotech manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in quality management systems within a cGMP facility.
  • Experience in Production, Quality Control or relevant operational activities.
  • Sound technical ability in the field of operational Quality Assurance.
  • Quality and Regulatory compliance knowledge, i.e. SA GMP, PIC/S and WHO as well as application.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:

Core Technical Delivery:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and internal procedures by proactively interpreting regulatory and quality requirements and determining the way of working.
  • Coach and provide QA leadership to areas of responsibility on quality compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to discussion on relevant QA topics and communicate closely with other departments.
  • Participate in the investigation of incidents, OOS, deviations, discrepancies, root cause investigations or test failures as required.
  • Support allocated operational areas by participating in the implementation of change control.
  • Participate in Corrective Actions and Preventative Actions (CAPA) in order to meet compliance requirements.
  • Review, approval and closure of incidents in accordance with SOP.
  • Review, approval and closure of deviations and escalating to QA Operations Lead where relevant.
  • Review, approval and closure of change control for quality and regulatory compliance impact and determine requirements for implementation.
  • Review, approval and closure of MDDs and OOSs in accordance with SOP.
  • Participate in risk assessments and ensure mitigations are efficacious.
  • Ensure risk actions identified are closed timeously.
  • Assist in vendor auditing when required.
  • Perform internal audits as required, generate reports and follow up for close out of findings.
  • Support QA department with Regulatory audits and other 3rd party audits.
  • Ensure deep and holistic understanding of allocated area(s) of responsibility to ensure effective closure of critical auditing findings on site.
  • Ensure or develop understanding of processes in areas of responsibility to be able to review and sign off quality related documentation, such as SOPs, WI, etc.
  • Review batch records for compliance and adherence to GMP.
  • Perform QA checks in areas of responsibility and ensure that observations are documented and followed up.
  • Review and approve SOPs for responsible areas.
  • Review job descriptions of staff within area of responsibility.
  • Analyze and write regular trend reports.
  • Conduct Quality Forum meetings within area(s) of responsibility.
  • Assist in product quality reviews when required.
  • Ensure audit readiness.
  • Participate in projects as and when required.
  • Review and assess incidents raised.
  • Review and approval of effectiveness checks.
  • Labelling of product/material that is suspect according to internal procedures.
  • Ensure overdue QMS documents are followed up timeously and actioned.
  • Lead complex deviations/investigations on site to ensure adequate root cause and CAPA identification.
  • Providing training on GMP relevant aspects e.g., Quality Events, Change controls, CAPAs and Risk Management
  • Review effectiveness of the QMS to ensure the system remains in compliance.

  21. Establish SLAs with external service providers and manage contractual agreements.
  22. Monitor risk management controls.
  23. Provide guidance on microbiological controls within Meat Plants.
  24. Manage internal and external laboratory processes to ensure quality and consistency.
  25. Source, service, and calibrate quality control instruments and equipment.
  26. Handle returned materials and respond to customer complaints with corrective actions.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 / Matric – essential.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field – desired.
Experience
  • At least 4 years' experience in a Quality Assurance Management role within Meat Plants, Fresh Meat Produce, or similar, managing QA frameworks, policies, procedures, and guidelines – essential.
  • Solid experience with statutory requirements, laws, regulations, and best practices in relation to customers and FMCG – essential, including:
    • Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)
    • ISO standards, specifically FSSC22000
    • Production / Manufacturing jobs

The Quality Assurance function is responsible for assessing potential risks and non-compliance with prescribed rules, procedures and standards of quality. You will mainly be responsible for carrying out quality assurance audits as per prescribed audit plans, ensuring that proper methodologies and processes are being followed. Prepare audit working papers for Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure that all required information for the audit has been obtained and report any identified shortcomings.

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:

Determine and plan the scope and objective of the area being audited.

  • Document if not already in place risks associated with the area being reviewed
  • Consider controls currently in place to mitigate the identified risks and determine their effectiveness in mitigating risks and threats, making recommendations for improvement where required
  • Assist in establishing risk-based review plans
  • Assist with analyzing business operations to determine compliance with these procedures.
  • Assist management in the identification of potential process inefficiencies
  • Provide assurance of compliance to statutory requirements, policies, and procedures.

Education and Experience

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Plan and assist in conducting of regular quality and risk review procedures
  • Accurate measurement of call and data quality
  • Identify improvement opportunities
  • Provide feedback to individuals and leaders
  • Implement improvement opportunities
  • Keep up to date on internal and external developments and practices to ensure their input and advice is appropriate and forward looking
  • Help to ensure that the Motor Claims area operates in accordance with relevant regulatory and legal requirements and works to ensure that awareness of such requirements is raised and promoted throughout this area.
  • Collaborate on initiatives / projects
  • Evaluating and measuring customer satisfaction and other performance outcomes.
  • Design and develop QA templates
  • Completes evaluation & Moderation on business processes & SOP’s
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Matric
  • Insurance related qualifications an advantage:
  • Relevant NQF Level 4 - FAIS 30 credits an advantage
  • Relevant NQF Level 5 - ETDP 50 Credits an advantage
  • Minimum 5 years Short Term Insurance Claims experience
  • Good understanding of contact centre processes and SLA’s
  • Good understanding of the motor claims process.
  • Coaching skills and experience
  • Excellent computer literacy, particularly Intermediate Excel
  • Report writing experience an advantage

Role Overview

We’re looking for a motivated Quality Assurance (QA) Tester Intern to join our growing team. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Cape Town, with flexibility to work from home on certain days. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our products meet the highest quality standards before reaching our clients.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, document, and execute test plans and test cases.
  • Perform manual testing to identify bugs and usability issues.
  • Collaborate closely with developers to troubleshoot and resolve defects.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to refine our QA processes.
  • Ensure all testing aligns with the software development lifecycle.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in test execution and manual testing.
  • Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail.

  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team environment.
