EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT APPOINTMENT
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Provide leadership and technical assistance in all sections of the Crop Section of the farm. Technician will manage agronomy field, greenhouses and orchard at the farm. Manage all available specialized equipment used in support of production, teaching and learning, and research activities. Diligently facilitate the handling of all processes involved in crop fields and keep adequate record and good control of consumable items utilized.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervision of staff and management of production in the crop section of the farm.
- Implement plans for practical sessions for Undergraduate students and staff.
- Implement plans for research activities for staff and students.
- Engage in community outreach activities.
- A Diploma/Advanced Certificate (NQF level 6) in Farm Management/ Agronomy/ Horticulture/ Crop Science.
- Professional membership with SACNASP.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ technical supervisory experience in the Agronomy field, orchard, greenhouses and management.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ farm management experience.
ADDED ADVANTAGE:
- A bachelor’s degree (NQF level 8) in Farm Management.
- A bachelor’s degree (NQF level 8) in Agronomy/ Horticulture/ Crop Science.
- Membership with professional society.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Manage the teaching and practical, research and community outreach projects.

This hybrid role involves providing executive-level support, managing daily farm activities, liaising with clients, processing orders and invoices, and coordinating regular livestock or produce auctions.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and capable of multitasking across administrative and operational duties in a client-facing environment.
Salry: R25 000 – R30 000 per month.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Personal Assistant Duties:
- Provide daily administrative support to the Director/Owner
- Manage calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings
- Handle travel arrangements and prepare briefing materials
- Assist with personal errands and ad-hoc tasks as needed
Farm Operations Management:
- Oversee daily farm operations in collaboration with staff and service providers
- Liaise with clients regarding orders, services, and delivery schedules
- Maintain stock and supply levels and coordinate procurement
- Ensure the smooth running of farm events and inspections
Client Engagement & Order Processing:
- Manage client communications and provide exceptional customer service
- Process incoming orders and coordinate dispatch/logistics
- Generate and send invoices using appropriate accounting or invoicing software
- Track payments and follow up on outstanding accounts
Auction & Sales Coordination:
- Organize and facilitate farm auctions (online or onsite)
- Prepare catalogs, coordinate marketing, and liaise with buyers/sellers
- Manage registration, bidding, and post-auction communication
- Ensure timely processing of payments and deliveries after auctions
Requirements:
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in personal/executive assistance, farm management, or a related field
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Knowledge of invoicing software and sales/order processing
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multitasking environment
- Understanding of agricultural operations (livestock or crop) preferred
- Valid driver’s license and own transport (if applicable)
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with online auction platforms
- Bookkeeping or accounting background
- Marketing/social media skills related to farm sales.
