To manage and maintain risk-adjusted pricing and risk ratings in terms of Basel requirements, enabling value-based management and the continued implementation of the Internal Ratings Based Approach within investment banking.
Job Responsibilities
- Interpret financial results based on annual financial statements or models, analyzing and extracting relevant information for the internal rating process.
- Interact with the front office regarding transaction structures to determine relevant rating models and provide input on potential risk mitigations.
- Assist credit managers with final ratings by preparing the Credit Risk Application (CRA) with supporting documents.
- Advise credit managers and the front office by explaining returns and rating results.
- Maintain good client relationships by providing timely guidance and accurate information to stakeholders.
- Ensure consistency of information by summarizing inputs used for models for the front office.
- Facilitate communication between model developers and the front office to meet client needs.
- Meet deadlines through efficient work allocation, allowing analysts to work on different portfolios.
- Ensure model appropriateness by interacting with credit managers and the front office regarding transactions.
- Liaise with other risk departments for inputs required for credit ratings, providing updates and feedback on models.
- Provide ad hoc training and coaching to junior and new staff within credit and Investment Banking.
- Support business strategy objectives and values by reviewing Nedbank and Business Unit Plans, ensuring alignment of systems, processes, and services.

- Assist with ad hoc credit projects, audits, or strategic reviews
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation for credit processes
- Proactively manage own performance and contribute to team goals
- Relevant Degree in Credit Risk Management or Accounting Qualification
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a credit environment (asset finance sector preferred)
- Strong analytical, commercial, and financial acumen
- Knowledge of credit policies, collections strategies, and funder requirements
- Proven ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage stakeholder relationships
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Industry-specific experience in asset-based lending or public sector finance
- A solid understanding of internal controls, governance, and audit procedures
