Role summaryThis role will provide you an excellent opportunity to support and enhance the learning journeys of talented Red & Yellow students on the BA in Visual Communication and the Advanced Diploma in Copywriting. It entails overseeing the implementation of the programme curriculum and learning and teaching strategies, managing the lecturers teaching on the programme, the teaching assistants, costs relating specifically to the programme and assuring the quality of the delivery according to CHE regulations.
You would work closely with, and will be supported by, the team of Programme Administrators, the Manager of the School of Creative Communication and the Manager of Regulatory and Student Affairs.
Key Responsibilities and Duties- Oversee the implementation of the curriculum and associated learning activities as the Programme Coordinator | Bachelor of Arts Visual Communication and Advanced Diploma Copywriting
- Manage the lecturers teaching on the programme (incl. performance monitoring and advising on development), including checking timesheets, managing workloads, and conducting and organising peer reviews
- Weekly meetings with the programme faculty to ensure they are working towards the goals outlined in their KPIs and to support and develop them in the delivery of their assigned modules
- Ensure programme specific resources: people, equipment and budgets are properly managed
- Ensure that the prescribed programme timetable and class attendance (and engagement in distance mode) are maintained
- Ensure that the prescribed programme assignments and assessments are completed on deadline and correctly reported
- Participate in all of the R&Y School’s Academic Governance and Quality Assurance procedures
- Offer programme content support to students including creating bespoke student academic plans
- Resolve student and parent complaints regarding the academic delivery
- Ensure constant feedback from students on programme-related issues are obtained and logged
- Ensure that all programme statutory requirements, documents (eg T&L’s, Programme guides etc), reports etc are adhered to and completed timeously to a top quality standard, and filed in the correct format and place
- Actively work with the R&Y Marketing, Student Advisor teams and lecturers to promote the programme
- Ensure that the programme curriculum and quality is maintained throughout delivery, and work alongside the programme development team when programme is due for re-accreditation
- Contribute to and manage programme reviews and improvements in order to maintain and improve quality
- Oversee aptitude assessment of new admissions to programmes and participate in the assessment of credit transfers and RPL
- Create and promote a respectful, transparent, collegial, professional and academic culture within the faculty team
- Manage the on-boarding of all academic and student support staff on the programmes
- Participate in the recruitment of new staff on the programmes
- Chair an academic committee or sit on multiple committees - depending on workload
- Actively assist in student orientation
- Assist in delivering accurate student records and transcripts
- Occasional support in substitute teaching and assessment, depending on academic expertise and timing, to support the delivery of the programme curricula if and when needed
- Completed NQF 9 qualification on a programme-related field (non-negotiable)
- Minimum three years of rigorous experience in the design, advertising and/or marketing industry with a demonstrable portfolio of work
- Minimum five years of teaching experience in a Higher Education environment
- Extremely computer literate: Microsoft 360 package, SIS systems, Moodle or other LMS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong project and time management skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Demonstrable understanding of Higher Education and Training landscape
- Knowledge of CHE requirements
