The core responsibilities of the position include:

• Continuous improvement of the manufacturing process, including quality, throughput, availability and safety.
• Leading fault-finding and root cause analyses and investigating and formulating optimal solutions to complex manufacturing process problems.
• Understanding, optimising and maintaining sophisticated process control systems.
• Implementing preventative and predictive maintenance systems. 
• Executing and managing specialised engineering projects.
• Using modern information technology tools to analyse, plan and optimise. 


The core requirements for the position include:

• BSc or BEng engineering degree, preferably in electrical, electronic, or electro-mechanical engineering.
• At least 5 years experience in a heavy process manufacturing environment.
• Experience working on advanced control systems.
• A high degree of computer literacy, including experience in the use of development and application tools and statistical process control.
• PLC/DCS experience, or experience in other types of real-time controllers, including knowledge of and expertise in the maintenance of control systems.
• System integration between various control systems.
• Data Storage and server management of industrial servers experience.
• Knowledge of structured programming languages such as C would be advantageous.
• Ability to adapt to various situations in a pressurised environment.
• An analytical, innovative and hands-on work style, and the ability to interact with a diverse, multi-skilled team.

A national (Control, Automation & Instrumentation) project market leader (Pretoria Head Office) seeks to permanently employ a Siemens Control Engineer for local, national and international travel (Projects).

Your main responsibility as a Siemens Control Engineer, would be to provide Electrical & Instrumentation support in the project department ensuring smooth transitions from design to construction within the required timeframes and budget constraints.

Assist Project Engineering Department, where required, to evaluate existing installations and recommend improvements or alternatives to enable expansion or improved utilization of equipment.

Industry: Process Equipment / Concentrator Plant Equipment: (Mills, Thickeners, Flotation Cells, Crushers).

Salary: R50 000 – R70 000 per month.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Computer & Electrical Engineering
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Valid passport.
  • Willing to travel local and international (Be away from home for periods up-to 3 months at a time)
  • Experience with the following Concentrator Plant Equipment: Mills, Thickeners, Flotation Cells, Crushers

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development of Control Systems.

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including process, mechanical, and civil engineers, to ensure seamless project execution and integration of E,C&I systems.
  • Assist, when and as required, in project cost estimates for tender projects, or engineering services to aid management in bidding on or determining the price of projects or services.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure that all electrical and instrumentation designs comply with relevant international standards and codes of practice. Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental issues throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Management:

  • Develop project schedules and budgets, monitor and review the performance of electrical engineering management systems, and implement improvements to optimize the efficiency of engineering activities.

General & Training:

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.
  • Undertake Specific Client Training as required to fulfill role.
