Job Purpose:

To teach or lecture an agreed number of hours based on module specialization requirements. Engage and prepare students for assessments by tracking module progress, identifying and supporting at-risk students, managing student administrative support, and developing assessments in collaboration with the Central Academic Team. Assist the Programme Coordinator in tracking and analyzing academic results to evaluate module performance and identify "at-risk" modules.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Deliver lectures and engage students according to module-specific requirements and schedules.
  • Manage resources, including academic materials, and consult with the Information Centre.
  • Update the learning management system and provide feedback accordingly.
  • Prepare students for assessments, identify at-risk students, and develop assessments aligned with Central Academic Team guidelines.
  • Monitor student engagement and assessment submissions.
  • Participate in academic meetings across departments.
  • Review and analyze student performance data for modules.
  • Support the monitoring of at-risk students within assigned modules.
  • Academic Professional Development: Complete a set number of professional development interventions annually to enhance teaching practices and academic status.
Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • A Degree/Diploma in Construction and Engineering Drafting or a related qualification at NQF level 6, with evidence of construction and engineering drafting subjects up to the third-year level.
Experience:
  • School teaching experience is required. Relevant work experience in the qualification area is preferred.
Key Competencies:
  • Understanding of South African higher education systems and regulatory frameworks.
  • Knowledge of teaching and learning theories.
  • Ability to support students effectively.
  • Willingness to adapt to digitalized academic environments.

An opportunity for an experienced PROJECT ENGINEER is required for permanent employment based in SA Projects.

  • The function of a Project Engineer (PE) is to support the project manager with the engineering and technical operations on projects.
  • You will report to the Engineering Manager - Projects, but your primary responsibility will be towards the individual projects that you are assigned to.
  • As an extension of the Project Manager, the PE is ultimately responsible for understanding and accomplishing the customer’s goals while protecting and promoting the interests of the company’s technologies in all matters.
  • Project Engineers might be assigned to manage smaller technical projects on their own.
Duties & Responsibilities

Essential Functions

ESTIMATING PHASE

  • The PE could be asked to visit the site to familiarize you with the site conditions and scope of work.
  • Assist the Contracts pursuit department on large capital pursuits, to prepare quantity take-offs as required.
  • Assist Project Manager in review of contracts and proposals.
  • Review specifications and scope of work.

PURCHASING

  • Creating Material & Technical Specifications
  • Manage project specific materials and equipment purchases including: sourcing, maintaining vendor relations, ordering and tracking deliveries, and receiving and processing invoices.
  • Prepare and issue purchasing documents (i.e.: Subcontracts, Purchase Orders, Service Agreements) with the Project Manager.
  • Assist with the preparation of a cost sheet for each project to maintain purchasing control.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Support construction team in expediting schedule, completion of field paperwork, expediting materials.
  • Assist with the development of project specific Safety Programs in coordination with the Safety and Project Manager.
  • Assist with the development of project specific Quality Programs in coordination with the Quality and Project Manager.
  • Collaborate with project Site Manager to prepare and submit Variation Orders to the customer.
  • Assist and support Project Manager by attending project meetings with General Contractor, Owner and others.

ENGINEERING

  • Conduct design of electrical engineering, parameters and review.
  • Work with technical specialists like electrical engineering, process and automation to resolve issues.
  • Prepare documented design inputs.
  • Review design inputs and review of engineering drawings.
  • Prepare and review equipment along with material parameters.
  • Prepare reports and study existing technical information clearly and precisely to attain client requirements.
  • Prepare BOQ for procurement.
  • Guide project installation and commissioning on final load testing.

PROJECT CLOSE-OUT

  • Provide required close out information to the client at the end of the project (record drawings, O&M, handover files)
  • Assist PM to make sure the project is 100% closed out with accounting to project documentation.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • Electrical Engineering degree or qualification in relevant field. Years of experience in a similar or related position will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of construction field.
  • Ability to work in an office environment as well as in the field as requested.
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office products. Microsoft Project experience will be an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently, within a team and in a diverse workforce.
  • Driver’s licence
  • Passport (Willing to travel regionally and abroad)
