POSITION INFO :

Minimum Requirements :

  • Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate or Equivalent
  • Experience in a clinic / health care environment / Paediatrics (or baby clinic)
  • Sound knowledge of recruiting area (Masiphumelele)

Responsibilities include (but not limited to) :

  • Recruitment, screening and consenting of study participants in the community
  • Retention and follow-up of study participants (to attend appointments)
  • Assist participants in maintaining asthma diaries to track symptoms and triggers
  • Guide participants in self-monitoring techniques and provide education on maintaining health records
  • Do home visits to participants
  • Keep Research Nurse informed of participants and report any irregularities
  • Data Collection and administrative duties - questionnaires, data entry and verification
  • Maintain database of participant information and complete participant progress reports as required
  • Provide education and support to participants during the screening process
  • Educate participants on the studies
  • Drive to destinations to drop off and / or collect participants and / or documents as instructed by line manager
  • Ensure correct handling and transport of specimens to the relevant laboratories.
  • Set up and manage air quality monitors (personal and household) and community-based spore trap
  • Additional Information :

    Your Specific Responsibilities:

    This is a professional position in the Special Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). This position will report directly to the WIC Director.

    Licensure as a Dietitian in the State of Florida is required for this position.

    Primary Duties:
    1. Provide nutrition assessment including the gathering of anthropometric and hematological data.
    2. Provide nutrition and breastfeeding counseling to clients.
    3. Assist and guide clerical and technical support staff of the WIC program.
    4. Assist in the development of Walton County WIC nutrition education materials.
    5. Perform duties at the main clinic site or any WIC satellite clinic.
    6. Demonstrate good communication skills and professional ability to work as a team and independently.
    7. Support and promote excellent customer service.
    8. Ensure compliance with all standards and regulations.
    9. Certify participants for WIC in accordance with federal and state guidelines.
    10. Provide appropriate WIC food packages to clients based on assessed information.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
    1. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    3. Ability to take accurate height/length and weight measurements.
    4. Knowledge of nutritional needs of pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women; infants; and children under 5.
    5. Basic computer skills; operate within FL WiSE.

    7. Ability to counsel clients and conduct group education classes.
    8. Provide excellent customer service.

    4. At least 3 years’ experience working with Adolescents and Youth programs.

    6. Good communication, listening and problem-solving skills.
    7. Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
