Under the general direction of the Assistant to the Dean of Students, Senior Administration Coordinator and reporting to the Dean of Students, the Coordinator, Student Community Development (CSCD) is responsible for the planning and implementation of community building and programming initiatives for University College students – with a primary focus on off-campus students. The CSCD works collaboratively with professional staff, student staff, student groups and student organizations as well faculty members across the College to coordinate UC's Commuter Student Centre and support student activities and student services available in the UC Union.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Liaising with internal and external contacts to coordinate execution of seminars and workshops
- Fostering and maintaining networks to build capacity and collaboration
- Promoting events and programs to students
- Advising student groups on the development of clubs and societies
- Advising student groups on the application of relevant policies and procedures
- Providing advice and support to students and mentors on program delivery matters

- Report writing and expert testimony in South African courts within Forensic Social Work.
- Competency in identification and critical analysis in Forensic Social Work issues.
- Intervention processes in Forensic Social Work.
- Minimum of one (1) year teaching and learning experience in blended contact sessions with university students.
- Evidence-based approach in Social Work; excellent communication skills (verbal and written); proficiency in multiple languages as applicable to NWU.
- Computer literacy: Microsoft Office, email, PowerPoint, and data analysis software.
- Ability to use e-media for teaching, studying and communication.
- Ability to work independently and in a team; good time management; ability to work under pressure.
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with NWU policy guidelines.
