Communications Assistant
position has become available at ENS in
Team Marketing
. This position reports directly to the Communications Team Leader, working closely with the Marketing Manager.
The working hours for this position are determined by the dictates of the practice, and the successful incumbent must be available and willing to handle urgent queries that may fall outside of standard hours from time to time. The successful candidate must have reliable transport and may be required to travel.
Scope:
As a member of the Communications team, the successful incumbent will be responsible for increasing the profile of the firm through external communications and driving our internal communications across locations, departments and teams.
This position will focus on:
External communications, which includes managing the firm's social media accounts; content marketing, such as holiday and commemoration marketing communications and managing the firm's legal chapter contributions; as well as internal marketing, including coordinating and writing content for the firm's internal newsletter.
General responsibilities
Social media
- Managing all content platforms (including website, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter & WeChat) including, updating the content (keeping it fresh & up-to-date), community management (including posting, responding to queries, monitoring for potential crises), examining and measuring the performance thereof in terms of (growth in followership, impressions, engagement, etc.);
- Tracking industry conversations and social media monitoring (including mentions of and content by ENSafrica and competitor benchmarking);
- Providing social media support to practitioners through appropriate training and knowledge sharing.
Content Marketing
- Evaluating, coordinating, and editing the firm's legal country chapter contributions, including monitoring performance metrics such as readership;
- Supporting and assisting with writing and formatting the firm's publications (e.g.ENSights and Newsflashes);
- Drafting social media copy to promote ENSights and Newsflashes.
Internal communications
- Planning, writing and editing the firm's monthly internal newsletter;
- Supporting internal communications campaigns (including ideation and content development);
- Supporting the development of copy for moments (i.e. Earth Day), commemoration days (i.e. Youth Day, Africa Day), and religious holidays (i.e. Eid, Yom Kippur).
Administration
- Reporting and extracting records from the team's various areas, compiling monthly reports on readership and open and click-through rates;
- Running with various general ad hoc tasks, projects, queries and requests, as they arise;
- Responsible for budget and financial controls for the area of responsibility;
- Maintaining know-how and market intelligence on what is topical and developments external to the firm and communicating this with the relevant stakeholders of the firm;
- Ensuring that all outputs are of the appropriate standard of quality, are delivered within deadline and are consistent with the goals of the firm;
- Supporting and assisting the Communications Specialist with any duties as may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required
- National Diploma in marketing/communications and/or journalism is required
- At least
2 years'
relevant work experience - Digital marketing knowledge is required
- Knowledge of social media tools and strategies including a sound understanding of social media marketing requirements and guidelines

- Ensure governance and risk management compliance to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, processes and resolutions and minimize risk for the communications and media division
- Ensure effective financial management and processes to ensure the effective allocation and utilization of funds
- Drive customer service orientation to ensure excellent customer service delivery to all stakeholders
- Implement and manage effective people management to provide a meaningful context, setting performance standards in order to enhance productivity, capacity and high staff moral
- Ensure accurate and timely flow of communication through effective utilisation of press and publicity systems, communication systems and processes
- Deliver and guide innovative, integrated media campaigns through ensuring effective prioritisation and flow across the organisation
- Develop media implementation programmes and plans, ensuring effective roll out and implementation
- Develop, integrate and monitor communication and media quality print publications and manage corporate identity
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships within the press and publicity communities and ensuring proactive management of the CoE reputation
- Plan, direct and manage implementation of customer education strategies and programmes
Core Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Communication or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification
- 8 years' experience in a similar environment of which at least 4 years must have been at senior management level
- A valid driver's license
- Operation planning and reporting skills

- Effective communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships

Note: The successful candidate who does not have the NQF Level 5 Finance Management qualification will be required to obtain it within 18 months, in terms of the National Treasury Requirement.
Appointments will be made on a 5 (five) year fixed term and will be subject to the signing of an employment contract, performance agreement and disclosure of financial interest. Candidates will be subjected to relevant competency assessment as well as security clearance / vetting processes.
