Applications are invited for the Network Operations Solutions Architect position to be based in Stellenbosch.
This person will report to the Head of Technology.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: The Network Operations Solutions Architect will be responsible for all network solutions from needs-analysis, through solutions architecture, implementation, and support.

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, implement, and optimize network and connectivity solutions for customers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop tailored technical solutions.
  • Architect and integrate technologies into cohesive, high-performing solutions
  • Translate business requirements into scalable and innovative network products.

The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills: - Work Experience and Competencies:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in:
  • Multi-vendor environments, hardware and software.
  • Network Engineering and Network Radio frequency experience.
  • Documenting solutions and architecture that can be used for implementation and support of the solutions.
  • Thorough understanding of Networks, systems and how to effectively use it to deliver solutions.
  • Working with Enterprise and SME business customers.
  • Analytical thinking and acumen for problem solving.
  • Ability to transfer skills and knowledge to others.
  • Technology stack experience: SD-WAN, VPN solutions, BGP, Network automation, Network monitoring, LAN management, Enterprise W-LAN, Security solutions, Mobile (LTE&5G).
  • Network tools: Monitoring, reporting, scripting languages.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications and courses, as listed below, are highly desirable:
    Equipment vendor specific qualifications, Juniper, Cisco, Arista, Extreme, Fortinet, HP, Nokia.
  • Project management qualification.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • 3+ years in a leadership or technical management role

  • Proven experience designing and operating production-grade AWS environments

  • Expertise in Terraform, Kubernetes, Linux systems, CI/CD, and incident management

  • Experience in high-growth sectors like Fintech, Retail, or Technology

  • Familiarity with cloud cost optimisation , security, and governance best practices

Job Description

We are seeking ahigh-impact Cloud Infrastructure Engineer with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)to join our AI & Data consulting practice as aSenior Consultant. This is a technical leadership role focused on the design, deployment, and optimization of scalable cloud infrastructure and services on especially GCP.

You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams of AI engineers, data scientists, and data engineers to build secure, production-ready platforms that power transformative AI and Data solutions for our clients across the African continent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and implementsecure, scalable, and automated cloud infrastructureon GCP to support data platforms, AI/ML workloads, and cloud-native applications.
  • Lead infrastructure design and provisioning usingInfrastructure as Code (IaC)tools such asTerraformandDeployment Manager.
  • Enablenetwork design, security hardening, and CI/CDfor cloud-native and hybrid environments.

GCP expertise

  • Design, configure, and optimizecore GCP servicesincluding:
  • Cloud Monitoring, Identity and Access Management (IAM), VPC networking
  • Apply best practices forcost optimization, monitoring, observability, and performance tuningacross cloud environments.

Consulting & Delivery

  • Translate business and functional requirements into robust cloud solutions.
  • Collaborate with engagement managers, architects, and technical leads to ensure seamless delivery of cloud infrastructure within time and budget.
  • Contribute to proposals, client presentations, and architecture documentation.

DevSecOps & Governance

  • Integrate cloud governance frameworks including security controls, audit readiness, and compliance requirements (e.g., POPIA, GDPR).
  • Implement DevOps pipelines with GCP-native and third-party tooling for CI/CD and automated testing.
Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ yearsof experience in cloud engineering or infrastructure roles with astrong GCP track record.
  • Proven experience designing and deploying production-grade infrastructure using GCP services.
  • Strong knowledge ofTerraform,Linux administration, andcontainer orchestration (e.g., GKE/Kubernetes).
  • Solid experience withCI/CD practices, DevOps tooling, and infrastructure automation.
  • Deep understanding ofnetworking, identity, IAM, encryption, and cloud security fundamentals.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and consulting skills.
  • Ability to operate in ahigh-performance consulting environmentand engage directly with enterprise clients.

Basic Qualifications
- Knowledge of the primary aws services (ec2, elb, rds, route53 & s3)
- Experience implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed computing environments
- Demonstrated experience leading the design, development and deployment of business software at scale or current hands on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience

Purpose

As a infrastructure Engineer, you will be accountable for assisting the SysOps team lead in planning, organizing, controlling, and management of all platforms and implementation of related infrastructure strategy.   • Be a thought leader with regards to Clickatell’s overall cloud adoption strategy.
  • Divisional policy and process formulation, strategic planning, resource coordination and operational execution of projects and assisting in procurement process.
  • Installation/configuration, operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the Clickatell messaging engine hardware, software, and related infrastructure with a focus on high availability, stability and security.
  • Work closely with software development teams to facilitate smooth integration of applications with cloud infrastructure.
  • Scripting and coding to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for cloud-based infrastructure issues.
  • Ensuring network, hardware, operating systems, software applications and any related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, customers, and partners
  • Technical liaison with enterprise customers and vendors as required Service, maintain, commission, and support global platforms, with a view towards high availability

Requirements of the Role

  • Related IT qualification / 5+ years in a system administrative position
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux certified (RHCE or better) or other appropriate Linux/Unix certification (preferred)
  • Cloud certifications (AWS preferred)
  • Proven experience as a SysOps Engineer or similar role.

Requirements Skills:

  • Experience in virtualisation and cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or similar.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux certified (RHCE or better) or other appropriate Linux/Unix certification advantageous
  • Perl, python, ruby and/or PHP scripting experience advantageous
  • Containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes) knowledge advantageous
  • Operating systems, from bare steel to network services
  • Use of CD/CI tools (Anisible/Puppet/Terraform) advantageous
  • Proven experience in and with a large, ISP-type environment and infrastructure advantageous
  • Monitoring and alerting experience with Open-Source technologies like Icinga/Nagios, Nagvis, Logstash, Elasticsearch, Graphite and Kibana Advantageous
  • Proven experience in production environments of the below is advantageous:
  • SAN storage solutions
  • Software package building and release management with software tools such as Puppet, Chef or Salt
  • Own transport and driver’s license beneficial in the rare circumstance where emergency onsite support is required at the data centre
  • Must understand and demonstrate knowledge of:
    • Networking, from Ethernet to IP
    • Operating systems, from bare steel to network services
    • IP networks, including but not limited to working knowledge of DHCP, DNS, SMTP, FTP, HTTP
    • Minimum of 5 years in a system administrative position
    • Minimum of 3 years working experience with Unix or derivative
    • Minimum of 3 years working experience with troubleshooting hardware and/or software
    • Minimum of 3 years programming or scripting experience (advantageous)
