Your Responsibilities

1. You will work with a tech stack that includes Microsoft Azure (Compute, Networking, Cosmos DB with Citus), Google Cloud Platform (AlloyDB), Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub, NGINX (for migration purposes), PostgreSQL, Azure Cosmos DB, New Relic, Groundcover, Docker, Kubernetes (preferred), and Scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.).
2. Design and implement Terraform scripts to deploy staging and production services in Azure.
3. Migrate existing staging environments from GCP to Azure, including services and databases.
4. Develop a local development environment compatible with Azure.
5. Transition load-balancing and routing solutions from NGINX to Azure-native solutions.
6. Synchronize GitHub repositories with GitLab and establish CI/CD pipelines in GitLab for Azure deployments.
7. Revive and maintain CI/CD pipelines for GCP production services.
8. Provide comprehensive documentation and instructions for new development workflows.
9. Configure monitoring tools such as New Relic or Groundcover for Azure environments.
10. Execute staging and production migrations, including database dumps and imports.
11. Implement multi-cloud production capabilities, gradually shifting API traffic to Azure.
12. Manage feature flags to control traffic distribution between GCP and Azure.
13. Plan and execute the migration from GCP AlloyDB to Azure Cosmos DB with Citus, focusing on sharding strategies to optimise performance.

Minimum Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
2. 6 -8 years of professional experience.
3. Proven experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
4. Strong proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure as code.
5. Experience with CI/CD tools, especially GitLab CI/CD.
6. Familiarity with load balancing and routing in cloud environments.
7. Solid understanding of PostgreSQL and database sharding techniques.
8. Experience with monitoring tools like New Relic and Groundcover.
9. Experience working in collaboration with product managers, UX/UI designers, and stakeholders.
10. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
11. Experience working in a consultancy environment.
12. Proven experience of working on successful projects.
13. Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.

Our worldwide field engineering team apply expert insights to real-world customer problems, enabling the enterprise adoption of Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes, AI/MLOps and a wide range of associated technologies. We are experts in the whole open source stack, from kernel to desktop, from cloud to the edge. Our team is also interested in business problems - building things reliably, efficiently and cost-effectively, and we have to learn to speak the language of our customers and their industries.

We help global companies embrace public and private cloud infrastructure, cloud native operations, and open source applications. For this team we are looking for several Alliances Engineers to support OEM (hardware manufacturers), GSI (global system integrators), ISV (independent software vendors), Channel partners and Public Cloud alliance partners. You will support various alliances and partners of Canonical to adopt our products and technologies, help business leaders to define joint go-to-market programs with partners from the technical standpoint.

What your day will look like

• Understand Ubuntu, Linux, networking and services in real-world environments
• Architect cloud infrastructure solutions like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark either On-Premises or in Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Architect and integrate popular open source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra and NGINX
• Help partners to offer and architect joint solutions utilizing Canonical's technologies on top of the public clouds and in the data center
• Design and publish joint Reference Architectures and perform technical validations with various partners
• Prepare and run onboarding sessions/workshops with various partners' teams to promote Canonical products and solutions

Applicants must have the following requirements:
Must have a Master’s Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Network Engineering. br>Must have a least 8+ years of experience in infrastructure or cloud architecture in complex, high-availability environments.
Must have experience in Agile and Waterfall delivery.
Must have strong experience across compute, storage, virtualisation, cloud network architecture, and disaster recovery.
Must have experience with compliance frameworks such as PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and GDPR.
Must have experience in designing scalable and resilient infrastructure for high-traffic platforms.
Must have experience with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), platform engineering, service mesh, and secure enclave deployments.
Must be proficient with hybrid and multi-cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and private cloud.
Must have strong knowledge of infrastructure automation (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure observability.

• Provide leadership and vision for the optimisation and rationalisation of ICT infrastructure aimed at increasing capability and/or IT cost savings and/or IT Service Levels.
• Provide an Enterprise Architecture Centre of Excellence capability to the organisation.
• Provide mentorship and coaching to all Architecture teams within the organisation.
• Develop and regularly review and recommend updates to the organisation's Domain standards and IT Strategy.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:
