Minimum Requirements :
- Degree / Diploma in General Nursing
- 2 - 5 years experience in clinical work (Private or Community Clinics)
- Prior working experience in Phlebotomy advantageous
- Previous diagnostics experience (advantageous)
- Any experience in Allergy, Immunology or Dermatology
- Computer Literacy (proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Fluency in English and a second language (Afrikaans and / or isiXhosa)
- Good interpersonal, communication and time management skills
- Excellent organisational skills
Responsibilities include (but not limited to) :
- Perform all clinical duties (blood pressure test, lung function tests, skin pricks, weight and height)
- Immunotherapy treatment of desensitisation of allergies by using various methods
- Administer bee venom injections (to be monitored half hourly)
- Perform phlebotomy procedures and insertion of peripheral IV lines
- Ensure pathology is stocked for blood-taking
- Prepare laboratory specimens for shipping or transporting to laboratory
- Management of patient records, laboratory, procedure results and other administration related to the clinic
- Accuracy at interpreting allergy results
- Keep record of and share stats with Doctors
- Clinical related computer work and liaising with patients answering emails as soon as possible
- Ensure clinic is well-stocked and order consumables when required
- Patient education

- Working Hours : 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- 12-month fixed term contract
- Position will be based at the UCT Lung Institute in Mowbray, Cape Town

- Perform Clinic Sister duties according to industry regulations and industry best

- Ensure that the Clinic is open and operational according to the hours stated in the operational

- Knowledge of community health nursing, primary health care and/or occupational health nursing, family planning, cytology, IUD, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS pre- and post-counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, wound care
- Quarterly CPD training; in-service training with Dis-Chem
- Strong command of English (written and oral)
- Understand the financial implications of meeting or not meeting set monthly targets
- Strong analytical skills relating to monthly clinic statistics and commission
- Emotional intelligence; entrepreneurial flair; trustworthy and honest
- Ability to manage team and self; be self-direct and self-motivated

- Knowledge and understanding of the business objectives
- Baby Immunisation Course (DoH/ Sanofi Pasteur); Family planning (DoH); Primary Health Care Course; Breastfeeding course; Disease management course
- Willing and able to work retail hours

Position Requirements
- Professional Nurse, registered with SANC (South African Nursing Council), with a Diploma in General Nursing or Degree in Nursing
- Have an accredited qualification in Occupational Health Nursing (must show on SANC Annual Practice certificate)
- Have a Dispensing License OR a recognised Certificate in Dispensing for Healthcare Professionals
- Have professional indemnity cover
- A post-basic or post-graduate qualification in Primary Healthcare will be advantageous
