Overview

An established mining company is sourcing a well experienced Power Generation Specialist to ultimately oversee and manage multiple power plant operations in the medium term.

Location: Sandton, Gauteng

Salary: Negotiable

Responsibilities
  • The incumbent should be able to conduct studies on power generation systems and optimisation thereof and be familiar with relevant software tools.
  • The incumbent should have experience in identification and assessment power generation projects such as solar, waste to energy, gas and coal.
  • The incumbent will lead the preparation of recommendations related to selection, design, operation and control for power generation systems.
  • The incumbent will oversee the design and construction of identified power projects.
  • The incumbent will also identify the technical assistance needs and development of prioritised technical assistance for power generation facilities.
  • The incumbent will be a point of reference for expert advice relating to power/energy generation, technology, regulations and best practice.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Electrical Power or Mechanical Engineering degree
  • 10 years relevant experience in gas or coal fired power generation
  • Strong understanding of electricity transmission
  • Familiarity with renewable power energy generation
  • Strong understanding of energy regulations and safety standards
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in use of power system design and electricity transmission tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and stakeholders
